showed A Raisin' in the Sun this morning. It came on at like 2:00a.m. or something. I was channel surfing and it was on. I so loved all the acting of every character in this play turned movie. I'm posting this so that maybe if you someone wants to try On Demand of the Sundance Channel or look to see if they will re-air it since Turner isn't airing it.
The classic movie channels aren't the only place to find classic movies either. I have a station called Movies that shows older films. I think Sundance did this in remembrance of Sidney.

I love Raisin in the Sun and yes, the cast and storyline excellent. I saw it in the movies when it came out, I was young and may not have understood everything in the movie at the time. I have seen it since a few times and I believe it has been on TCM.
I also saw a documentary on Lorraine Hansberry who wrote the play. It was on PBS and excellent. She passed at a young age from cancer.
I also have the Movies channel and it does have some good oldies!!!

@gertrudecloset The New Yorker magazine, January 24, 2022 issue, has a wonderful review essay of a new book about Hansberry, "Radical Acts: The many lives of Lorraine Hansberry. Imani Perry, a Princeton University professor, has also written a well-received biography of her. My two favorite actors in the film were Ruby Dee and Diana Sands. The ideas in the film are timeless.

@Zernia Rose @gertrudecloset Diana Sands was excellent in "Raisin" and I expect had she lived she would have been the same in Claudine; however shortly after she started filming with James Earl Jones it was discovered Ms. Sands had pancreatic cancer. At her suggestion she was replaced by Diahann Carroll.
I own the movie Claudine and each time I watch it I always think of Diana Sands. Don't get me started on the timeless soundtack of that movie. Love!

@gertrudecloset @Tique I agree with your comments. If you can find a copy, I highly recommend the film Georgia, Georgia . It explores ideas such as the expatriate Black woma living, loving, and working in Europe. It's a mediitation on identity, individualism, and belonging to whom and what. Minnie Gentry is in the film and Maya Angelou contributed music and other elements. One powerful scene reminds me of the one in "How to get away with murder". It's the scene with Cecily Tyson brushing Viola Davis' hair.
