@CAcableGirl2 - Thank you for the information. I'll definitely contact them during the coming week. Too late to do anything about this month's bill, but I'm not paying that kind of money going forward.
We do tend to use the DVRs to record things to watch later, but it's getting to the point where I can't even be bothered to do that anymore.
I just want to keep up with the daily news and watch a few channels that we both like.
As much as I didn't like DirecTV towards the end, at least you could go online and change your package. For some reason Spectrum only allows you to upgrade online. Not doing that, so a phone call it is!

@gertrudecloset - I think a lot depends on where you are in the country. Our previous (lousy is an understatement - think 2.5 to 3 mbps internet, compared to our now 300 mbps for less money) provider was Fairpoint, then taken over by Comcast.
I won't bore you with all the hassle we had with them, including having one of their reps hang up on me after waiting on the phone for an hour and a half.
Spectrum has provided excellent customer service, a real person answers the phone within minutes, they call back when they say they will. At this moment in time, no complaints from me! Except for the increasing bill.

@Jaspertimes - YouTube is one of the services I've been considering, so I'll check that out.

Just a heads up when thinking of making any changes with Spectrum. If you are going to switch from their cable to their streaming in order to save money or you're cutting the cord completely, do it right before your billing cycle is just about up. They will not adjust the price or issue refunds if you do it during the billing cycle. A friend decided to switch to YouTube tv in the middle of her billing period and was expecting a refund and they said they don't give them anymore.

I cut cable a year ago it was so expensive and was up to 180.00 a month. I was scared to but switched to Roku and have never been happier not paying that bill.
I pay 70 for internet, taxes are so high here.
I don't pay extra for other channels, I find plenty of free tv to watch. I wish I had done it sooner, all that money wasted. Even the employees at the cable co., don't have cable, they all switched to streaming. I need to get an antenna for local channels and sports, just haven't done it yet.

@akaburtonfan Yes, I discovered that too when my mother changed her service. They don't prorate your bill for partial month service. So, be sure to call prior to the cutoff or when your bill starts another month. It probably isn't a calendar month, I think my bill goes from the 22nd to the 21st. So I would at least call or look at your bill to find out when your next cycle starts and then call prior to that.
I found a lot of companies are now doing that too, same for my trash service.

I would still rather have cable than HULU Live (I can't afford it). It doesn't matter if I update the app, I get thrown off the app daily (it goes back to the home page), sometimes the video and audio doesn't sync up, and the picture freezes at times. This has to be an issue with HULU ( my internet speed is sufficient) this only happens watching live all my other streaming platforms are not effected, HULU tv streaming of their other content is fine.

With youtubetv, for 65.00 a month you can get plenty of channels including espn and all sports. I get more channels than I did with Comcast for a fraction of the price. Smart TV not necessary if you have Roku or other streaming device
That's a no go for me. Youtube tracking your every move because it's a Google company! Heck no. However it's just as competitive as HULU and Netflix I guess.

Consider yourself lucky @Venezia and I hope it stays that way for you. They lost the New York Market big time. We don't have a lot of competition for cable in NYC. There is Fios, Spectrum, RCN, Cablevision. Not all of them provide service in the same areas either. So, I can't drop Spectrum and try to get RCN as it doesn't work in my area. We have minimal choices for switching, but each area has at least two options.
Enjoy!
