Singers: Can you explain how to harmonize? May be too hard to explain.

I'd love to sing along in the car or as I listen to music, and just wonder if you can explain how to do it?

My sister and I always sang together and I always did the harmony part. I can't tell you how to do it, it just came naturally. I can still do it (although I don't have the pretty voice anymore and my beloved sister is gone). It was a joy, our friends loved it too. Oh my . . . memories are flooding back.

It is very hard to explain how to do it--like Ford1224 said--for some people (me too), it just comes naturally. I have been a singer all of my life--my beautiful Mother had a lovely voice, and I think I got my talent from her. I would say that, if it's something you really want to LEARN to do, take a few singing lessons!
