I agree with you @SeaMaiden. The message indicates she was in pain while out doing some self care. This aside, I think she looks good for an 82 year old woman or even if she was 62. We've all seen older actresses who have had plastic surgery to retain their "look of youth" perhaps to remain relevant in their career choices, or hopefully, to just please themselves.

I think she looked great for her age of 82. And, it was good she was having an outing at the salon, taking care of herself.
What's sad is, that she couldn't just age gracefully, with people realizing that she's no longer the stunning beauty of her working career years, but a retired individual just wanting to be left alone. Like most retirees her age.
It's particularly hard for women to age in our society where youth and physical attraction rules. And, as another poster stated, it's not the same for men.
I just saw a TV anchor reportedly saying women reach their peak at around 30 and are done before 50. Sadly, this is actually how we, as women, are judged by many men. It's no wonder women of age tend to self isolate.
Even for women who are not public figures, it can be a difficult time, being reminded that you're either becoming invisible to others, or judged as old, damaged goods.

Sad to hear this. It was interesting to read that she kind of stuck to her wig business towards the end. I have had several of her wigs and they are some of the prettiest out there. She must have understood that pretty hair makes women feel good.

The tabloids are just rotten Recluse? Ummm....if you're a recluse the last thing you do is dress up, look stunning and go for a mani pedi.
Why do gossip magazines use this language? It gives them clicks.
I despise their manipulation.

There was an episode of "Designing Womwn" where Julia mentioned how some people seem to get a kick out of seeing beauty queens age or gain weight. Her sister Suzanne was a victim of this at her high school reunion.

Yes and its ugly. The woman was in her 80s. I think she looks GREAT and stylish in the picture. Women can't win. When you're young and beautiful, the envy is cruel. When you're old and beautiful, its still not enough. Sad ending? Rec!use? I think that's b.s.

@SeaMaiden It seems as though most of the Hollywood sexpots who were prominent and we saw constantly, fade into oblivion as they age. I can understand why they would prefer to be remember as they were not as they are; gray, wrinkled and puffy possibly in pain or not feeling well.
I'm always amazed when death notices list their ages. It doesn't seem possible that Raquel was 82. Where do the years go?
@Kachina624 so true. It also seems like when a star or the like passes away...it has been a long time since you heard about them or saw them anywhere prior to the death...... they kind of hide out from the public scene when elderly or suddenly sickly....
Betty White was such. The last year after her last birthday, you never heard anything about her at all.... and then she was just gone.

Kim Kardashian may be one of the biggest sex symbols of the present day, but don’t you dare compare her to the Raquel Welch — at least not in front of today’s audience on The View. While remembering the late actress, Sunny Hostin mistakenly made the comparison, resulting in some audible backlash from the crowd.
Whoopi Goldberg paid tribute to Welch, who died on Wednesday (Feb. 15) following a “brief illness,” at the start of one of the today’s Hot Topics segments.
“We were so heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of the world’s most enduring sex symbols — the fabulous Raquel Welch,” she said. “Sail on, Raquel. Sail on.”
The star rose to fame in the 1960s with her breakout roles in Fantastic Voyage and One Million Years B.C., where she famously wore a deerskin bikini. Looking back on her career, Joy Behar added, “They don’t make any sex symbols like that [anymore].”
When Sunny Hostin began, “Well, Kim Kardashian is —” she was cut off by a disapproving crowd, which loudly yelled back, “No!”
Even Behar was shocked at her fellow co-host’s comparison as she replied, “Kardashian?! No!”
As the audience continued to voice their objections, Behar joked, “Turning, turning! The audience is turning,” while Hostin displayed a dumbfounded look across her face at the (not so) unexpected reaction.

The article is degrading. Almost everyone I know could be called reclusive the past several years while COVID was haunting us.
Just because the PAPS didn't see her doesn't mean she was reclusive. She could have been around and about and not noticed. She was photographed last July by the PAPS...not that long ago.
She was an older women, not seeking the lime light and probably wanted to live in peace. I can't say I blame her. She was a classy lady.
