Yes, @Group 5 minus 1 -- that was cute of Roy Thinnes! It was neat that she mentioned having a lot of laughs with him and his then-wife Lyn Loring at lunch, etc.
I could swear there's another interview with Suzanne Pleshette, where she goes into more depth about being on "The Invaders". Or maybe it was him recounting it.... Apparently, they were out filming in that wilderness area where they do a lot of location shooting outside of L.A.-- maybe 50, 60 miles from town?
Anyway, I thought she (or he) said something like Roy got left behind by accident one night, and was pretty much stranded. Everyone thought it was funny, etc. It always sounds like that was a fun show to be on....
Yes, @Judaline , SP didn't get into it in that video, but I was thinking about what Angie Dickinson meant by her comment to her. His heavy drinking and smoking have been widely reported and some believe that they contributed to his early death. Sounded to me like AD was saying she tought, if he was married to SP, he would have gotten a handle on both of those, perhaps extending his life...
Hey, cool source that you found! I've read some of his stuff before-- but then lost track of him. Now with your link, I'm going to go back and read more-- thanks, @Judaline !

Oh, I'm glad you like the interviews, @DREAMON . If you haven't listened to the earlier part of the tape already, that section is fascinating too. I never knew that Suzanne Pleshette replaced Anne Bancroft in "The Miracle Worker" in the theater. Talk about a hard act to follow! SP's perception that the cast never accepted her was so interesting-- in addition to her rocky relationship w/ both Anne Bancroft, and Patty Duke...
Then the stuff she said about the Newhart show was gripping too. She said she played "Emily" at first like she was Sandra Dee (!) and even raised her naturally husky voice for the part, etc. She knew she was playing it wrong, and eventually settled into the part, with the help of the writers who changed the direction of the character a bit. Inside stuff, fascinating.
Oh, and her anecdote about "Columbo" and Peter Falk, and what Eddie Albert said to him-- hilarious!

True, @Pearlee , and as I've observed before, some of her accounts do tend to be just a bit self-serving! But what I enjoy is the sort of departure from the more "homogenized" Hollywood interview. Suzanne Pleshette's stories certainly pull back the curtain! And to be fair, she can be brutally honest about herself at times, in ways that don't always put her in the best light...

I didn't care for her saying "you know" every couple of words. A few friends in my life fo that bbn and it annoys me from them too. One of our anchor newscasters does that (so I don't watch him) . When I heard him I felt like shouting at the TV "No I don't know or I wouldn't be watching you!"
I always feel, when someone's being interviewed or whatever, and she periodically says, 'you know' that she is grasping for a word or is stuck for something to say and is hoping the interviewer will help her out, kind of fill in the blanks because she can't think of anything else to say.

I remember Roy Thinnes from a couple of soaps. General Hospital for one-always liked him. Still with us?

Lifetime did a Great Intimate Portrait bio on Suzanne years ago, where she herself did much of the talking. she said she knew her marriager to Troy would be very short lived, but she needed to marry him just to know she gave it a try. In her much older life she married Tom Poston, seems like a rather odd choice for her, but she said it was true love.
