The show biz bio pics continue, with one that showcases the tumultuous life of singer Lillian Roth. Despite its title, which suggests merely a sodden wallow, this is a terrific example of the genre.  Hayward is powerfully dynamic as usual, as a performer struggling with alcoholism, and torn between her mother, her choices, and the men in her life. 

Oscar nominations for Best Actress, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography.  Oscar win for Best Costumes.

Great movie - haven't seen it in years.  Loved her in I Want to Live and Back Street.

Such a fantastic actress, plus she comes from my hometown - Brooklyn!!  LOL!

I get I Want to Live & I'll Cry Tomorrow mixed up.  One of the 2 I've seen numerous times & the other maybe once because it's rarely shown.  All I know Susan's character(s) are alcoholics.

Thanks for the heads up @Oznell .  It's on at a good time too.  Will not interfere w/a series I want to watch.
