SIDNEY POITIER STAR OF THE MONTH CONTINUES:

Remember, it's every Tuesday primetime onward:

Tonight's lineup contains some of his best-loved, including "A Patch of Blue" at midnight, and "Lilies of the Field" at 2:00 a.m. Eastern.

Also very much worth considering are Lorraine Hansberry's classic, also starring the fabulous Ruby Dee,  "A Raisin in the Sun"  at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, and the "crisis line" drama he made with Anne Bancroft,  "The Slender Thread",  at 10:15 p.m. Eastern.

He did a couple of comedies in the 70's with Cosby that were not up to his usual mark of excellence.  Some other lighter ones were For Love of Ivy and A Warm December.

Yeah, even the screenplays that weren't quite up to his talents, were improved by his charismatic presence.  Had forgotten "A Warm December",  @Shelbelle.   He could take sort of escapist fluff and make it fun to watch!   That's 'star quality',  for sure.
