I know - I'm going to one of Robin's solo shows in September. He goes to little clubs all over the country and plays with a band. Like Rod Stewart said: he doesn't listen to the new music because it can't compare to the old ... I agree! And I saw Rick twice when he was on General Hospital - he was delicious then and still is ...

Wow, I just found this thread. I remember them way back in the mid 70's when they were just getting started as a band. They always played in a local bar as a "new" start up band, and the cover charge was only 50 cents or free a lot of the time. My friends and I would go to where they were playing after work. The drinking age here in Madison was 18 at the time. They may name Rockford Il. as their origin, but their fame really took off, and the city of Madison Wi. launched them as a premier band.

I was in my high school choir with Rob Zander. When he sang a solo during a Christmas concert performance of "Ave Maria" there wasn't a dry eye in the house. His voice was such a pure, clear tenor. There was never a doubt that he was headed for bigger things in the world of music.
Before they were "Cheap Trick", they performed as "Fuse". I too used to go to various venues in Rockford to hear them. They often played Friday night dances after high-school football games, and yes, they were free. Glad to read that Rob still has his 'pipes'.
