Gershwin, a true American genius.  I'm always haunted by "what more could he have accomplished had he lived?"  A bit like John Keats, who, unbelievably, died when he was only 25.  At least Gershwin had a few more years than that, and like Keats, still had time to leave great masterworks behind...

 

It's been awhile since I've seen the movie, but it seems to me Robert Alda did a nice job playing George.  Can't remember who played ira, I've always loved his sophisticated lyrics...

One of my all time favorite pieces of music. (about the only thing I like about United Airlines is they chose to use this masterpiece)

 

The Gershwins were musical geniuses.
