Variety Magazine reports

Singer-comedienne Kaye Ballard, who starred alongside Eve Arden in the 1960s sitcom “The Mothers-in-Law” and was among the stars of the 1976 feature based on Terrence McNally’s farce “The Ritz,” died Monday in Rancho Mirage, Calif. She was 93.

But none quite like the element of surprise

Re: Rest in Peace: Kaye Ballard

She was a hoot.

She reminds me of Antonella a little (or vice versa.)

I was actually surprised she hadn’t died years back.  I always liked her.

Just for reference I looked up Eve Arden. She died almost 30 years ago at age 82.

Did not realize Kaye Ballard was so young when she was playing her role in Mothers-in-Law.

Re: Rest in Peace: Kaye Ballard

I just started following her on FB a few weeks ago after I read about something she was working on, so I was sad to see this in my feed when they posted on her FB page.

I used to watch reruns of the Mothers in Law when I was a kid.  I don't know why I was into it as a child, but they were hilarious.

Always a fan. Loved her with Eve Arden and also as Doris Day's landlord on the Doris Day show. Kaye's husband in that show was played by Bernie Kopell later as Doc on Love Boat.

Saw her on Broadway back in the early 60's in the musical, Carnival. It was based on the movie, Lili.

I don't think I knew that she was a singer, but she was always so funny.
