John Karlen passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020.

He played Willie Loomis on Dark Shadows and Harvey Lacey on Cagney and Lacey.

I remember him on Cagney and Lacey. He and Tyne Daly were so natural together.

He had quite a career and a lengthy resume of character actor roles, mostly on television, but also films and stage.

Hadn't seen him in a long time, @Bird mama ,  but still remember how good he was as "salt-of-the-earth" hubby to Tyne Daley.  "Harvey", I think his name was???

Edited to add-- Oh, I just noticed you already said he played "Harvey" on that show-- never mind, I need more caffeine, clearly!

I faithfully watched Dark Shadows when it was on TV and also enjoyed the movies.  I remember John Karlen in his role of Willie Loomis and I also enjoyed him in Cagney and Lacey.  John was entertaining in both roles, two different characters well acted!

I don't remember him in Cagney and Lacey but the original Dark Shadows is on HULU right now.  I don't know for how long.

@Bird mama Oh that is sad. I loved Harvey! He and Mary Beth made such a good couple. Worked through their troubles and loved one another and their kids so much.

I remember him very well on Dark Shadows and would run home from school to watch every day.  Had forgotten he was on Cagney and Lacey.  May he rest in peace.
