Not sure why, but I was thinking about the Bugs Bunny theme song today. Lyrics were:
Overture, curtain, lights
This is it, the night of nights
No more rehearsing and nursing a part
We know every part by heart
Overture, curtain, lights
This is it, we'll hit the heights
And oh what heights we'll hit
On with the show this is it.
Tonight what heights we'll hit.
On with the show, this is it.
The cartoons also included some classical music like "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2", "The Barber of Seville", and several others. I think the music helped create a feeling that we were watching "serious" entertainment for kids and that, as viewers, we kids were important. Do you remember the classical music of the classic cartoons?
