Re: Reinventing Elvis:The ‘68 Comeback

I just watched the video of Elvis singing American Trilogy, he's wearing a white jumpsuit with leis around his neck. The song makes me sad as I associate it with Elvis' death. .

Re: Reinventing Elvis:The ‘68 Comeback

This special was at the theaters for a one time viewing 2 Sundays ago.  I wish it had been advertised.  I would have gone.

I hope it will come on non-pay TV this year.  Some of us don't have all the streaming channels.

I read an article that was written in the Las Vegas paper the day he died.  I was especially moved by the words of a waiter at the Hilton Hotel:

"Elvis was concerned about people.  It was never he's too important to us. He would joke with us and ask us how business was.  He was for the common folk.  If you saw him in the hallway at the hotel, he would say hello, how are you, he wasn't like some who wouldn't even look at you."

That made me cry to read that account.

I also read that Elvis biggest regret was he couldn't shake hands with all his fans.   He was one of a kind... a musical and historical icon.

His music will live on forever.

My granddaughter's 9th birthday party is 8/26 and she is having out at the lake and wants an Elvis Presley cake with other Elvis decorations.  We have no clue why.  Last year it was Panda's this year her fasination is Elvis.

I loved and still love Elvis. My mom is  a huge fan, born the same year as Elvis. I grew up listening to his music because of her.

I have a few favorite songs. My number one is The Wonder of You.

I also love  I'll Remember You and Suspicious Minds.

Come to think of it I love them all!

8/16/77    I'll always remember where I was that day. I was at Disney World.

I'll watch the documentary. I always do.

My favorite Elvis songs are "Memories" & "If I Can Dream"

Elvis' favorite song was "Don't be Cruel." I love it, too. But I could NEVER pick a favorite. I heard Kentucky Rain the other night. Zowie. Sounded so good-kind of underrated I think. You didn't hear much about it when it came out.

Elvis was a natural talent.  He could sing any song and it could melt your heart.
