Does anyone think Mr. bates is "hiding" something? Ive only seen through season 2 but his eyes look shifty to me. Don't trust him. He almost seems too self righteous to me.

I won’t give you any spoilers, but he is a good person, especially linked with Anna. He does have a past that will come out, and he knows how to take care of his family.

Does any else think Mr. bates is conniving and planning something big ? His eyes look so sinister to me. Not a warm man at all. Still on season 2 here.

@Reever Yes, I think Mr. Bates is going to cut the brakes in Matthew Crowley's car and poison Lady Sybil.  Have you figured out yet that the show takes place in modern times, and that Downton is a mental institution where the people downstairs are actually the staff and the people upstairs are the patients?
