Yes, I agree. It is what they know.
I do think Paris is kind of fascinating to watch. She was born into one of the wealthiest families in America.
It is all she's ever known.
I don't think she is a bad person.
Still, it always is amazing and disheartening to know the extreme difference in people's lives.
I really appreciate and applaud the super rich who give a whole lot back.

When I see commercial s for the disabled veterans, children's hospitals, animal abuse etc, I always wish I could win the lottery to help them. I never think that when I see extreme wealth, that I could win the lottery for private jets, yachts, multiple homes. Doesn't interest me. Not that I am a goody two shoes, more like that would get old real fast.

@Nancy Drew Interesting viewpoint comparison! I would feel the same way if I became suddenly wealthy...I might buy a newer car...and move into a home on one level (no stairs);with a walk in tub for my senior years.. those "things I dream about".....but I can not think much past that for needing MORE. To be able to help others would be so wonderful...making a positive impact with the wealth.

I know two people personally, not close friends, who are from old money. They seem to spend a lot of their time planning for events, many charity type, or are spending time to go away to other events to support those. They never stay in one place. Always travelling around the world doing stuff for other people. They appear to be very decent people who have big hearts....and big wallets to go along with that.

It's funny - DH and I were just talking last night about the latest lottery winner (won something like close to $2 billion?).
Neither one of us, if we won even a fraction of that, would want a huge mansion or even a bigger home. We'd be more likely to buy a smaller one, more secluded!
I have never seen the point of owning a home that needs staff to keep it clean. We like our current two-level; it's just us and our cats.
I'd probably build a nice enclosed catio for the furbabies and DH would get a new Subaru. Beyond that and helping family? Charities.
(Oh yes and I'd buy a modest home in Italy!)

I wouldn't trade my life for Paris Hilton's or any other gajillionaire for anything.
Imagine all the people would you have to deal with, security, financial and business, lawyers, grounds, housekeepers, someone to oversee the workers, drivers etc. Nope.
What cracks me up with huge houses is the size of the bathrooms, my living room could fit in one. For Pete's sake, how many people go in the bathroom with you? Plus, there is usually multiple bathrooms.
