'Real' Housewives of Salt Lake City Arrest

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City's Jennifer Shah and Stuart Smith were arrested Tuesday on federal fraud charges alleging that they used a business to cheat hundreds of people nationwide over a 10-year period in a telemarketing scheme.

Jennifer Shah, 47, of Park City, Utah, and Stuart Smith, 43, of Lehi, Utah, were arrested in Utah on charges including conspiracy unsealed in New York City, authorities announced.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss noted in a release that Shah portrays herself as a wealthy and successful businessperson on television, while Smith was cast as her first assistant. Shah is in the main cast of the Bravo program, which completed its first season in February.

In actual reality and as alleged, the so-called business opportunities pushed on the victims by Shah, Smith, and their co-conspirators were just fraudulent schemes, motivated by greed, to steal victims´ money.'

Authorities said the fraud scheme ripped off hundreds of victims nationwide for a decade from 2012 until March 2021.

The release states that the pair 'engaged in a widespread, coordinated effort to traffic in lists of potential victims, or “leads,” many of whom had previously made an initial investment to create an online business' with other people listed as part of the scheme.

The leads were initially generated by sales floors operating in Arizona, Nevada, Utah and other places. Owners and those operating the sales floor worked 'in coordination with several telemarketing sales floors in the New York and New Jersey area, including in Manhattan,' according to the release.

These owners also provided lead lists and assistance in fighting refund requests when needed on the sales floors.

Jennifer Shah, 47, of Park City, Utah, and Stuart Smith, 43, of Lehi, Utah, were arrested in Utah on charges including conspiracy unsealed in New York City, authorities announced.

@KingstonsMom She is scary looking, wouldn't want to meet her on a dark street.

This is why I don't watch those "housewife" shows.

Re: 'Real' Housewives of Salt Lake City Arrest

I had stopped watching Housewives years ago, but saw how much people were still enjoying and watching them, so thought I would try watching Salt Lake from the beginning. She is why I stopped watching it.

It doesn’t say above, but I thought I saw that many of her victims were elderly. If they find her guilty, I hope they throw the book at her.

I only hope they don’t make this a storyline and, instead, kick her off. I may try watching it again without her.

😮If this alleged story is indeed proven to be factual, it is very disheartening. To prey on our most vulnerable population; the elderly; makes it that much more reprehensible!😞

May the wheels of justice turn swiftly!

If she's found guilty it wouldn't surprise me one bit.  I find her to be obnoxious and self-serving based on her selfish behavior on the show.

And yet she signed up for a Reality Show that delves in to your personal life.

I guess she didin't see Tre and Joe go down in flames.

Yeah, I thought she was bizarre and kind of frightening just to look at and listen to.  Some of the others were weird as well.  I gave up on this show after 4 or 5 episodes.

I'm also watching RHofDallas and I was thinking to myself, why am I watching a bunch of women I can't stand let alone listening to them and their kids that must use the word "like" every other word.  It's horrible.

Re: 'Real' Housewives of Salt Lake City Arrest

From TMZ:

4:07 PM PT -- TMZ has obtained a picture of Jen getting arrested by a Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent.

3:17 PM PT -- Federal law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Jen had just left the set of 'RHOSLC' when she was arrested, but it all went down off-camera. We're told she was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations NY agents around 10:30 AM MT in the parking lot of a small strip mall in Salt Lake City.

'Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star Jen Shah helped support the lavish lifestyle she flaunts on the show through wire fraud and a massive telemarketing scheme ... at least according to the feds, who arrested her Tuesday.

According to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of NY ... Shah and Stuart Smith -- who's portrayed as her assistant on the reality series -- generated and sold "lead lists" of innocent people who could be targeted for their nationwide scam for about 9 years.

The feds say many of those targeted were "vulnerable, often elderly, working-class people" who were duped by the promise of business opportunities involving Shah, Smith and their alleged co-conspirators.
