READY FOR REGULAR PRIMETIME TV

I’m really missing some of my usual shows that have taken a break either because they’re on the same network as the Olympics or didn’t want to compete.

You?

No, I don't watch much of the Olympics, but I like to read and I have Netflix, Britbox , Acorn and Amazon Prime video, so I'm well entertained.

Re: READY FOR REGULAR PRIMETIME TV

It seems to have affected the entire TV land. All my shows are on hold a week. I’m ready for my regular program but hope others are enjoying the Olympics. I’m not really into it though I do love couples figure skating.

Just missing a few that are on NBC - This Is Us and SNL.  And Judge Judy!

I haven't watched any of the Olympics.

Re: READY FOR REGULAR PRIMETIME TV

I've had enough shows on deck that I'm still not caught up and have shows from last Sunday (now 2 eps of those on hand) to watch.

It's been kind of a nice break, though.   Yesterday I watched the entire current season of  'Grace and Frankie'.   I hadn't been able to get to Netflix or Amazon for a while, so it was a nice change.  Smiley Happy

Different strokes, I guess, because even though I'm hardly glued to the screen during the Olympics, there's not much I'm missing. I hardly thought 'regular' TV offered all that much compelling viewing in the first place...

Re: READY FOR REGULAR PRIMETIME TV

I am not watching the Olympics and I don't watch network TV much.  I am mostly a fan of Hallmark Channel, History Channel, Retro TV channel, AMC and TCM channel, Sundance, and COZI TV channel.  Also, I have programs saved on my DVR. With the nice weather and summer, I am not home much to watch TV.

Re: READY FOR REGULAR PRIMETIME TV

@Shanus I agree with you.  It seems like so many shows are put on hold.

I know there are people who don't watch much TV, but I like watching TV.  Since my husband died, I live in this house and it keeps me company.

There are days when I hurt so bad it's difficult to go from one room to another.  TV is a way of escape for me.

I used to read a lot but when you're in pain you can't concentrate on a book, so the TV provides a distraction.

I'm lucky that I get every channel Comcast offers, but I am picky.  There are a few 'regular' channels on shows I watch.  I watch a lot of cable shows too.  But even those are many repeats.

I think (no, I'm sure) it's a way for the networks to save money.  Those that aren't showing the Olympics (NBC) they are showing repeats or something no one wants to watch anyway.....Ha!

Re: READY FOR REGULAR PRIMETIME TV

I'll be happy when it returns, but I've been glad that I didn't have to decide between the Olympic Games and my favorite shows. Because of the way they air things, I have to record huge blocks of the games just to see the one event I'm interested in, which fills my DVR up quickly. If they were airing the games and all the regular shows, I'd have no chance to keep up.

I've been watching the games most days and watching Netflix, Hulu, Acorn, etc on days when they're airing events I don't care about.
