I find the song creepy.

I think it's pretty common knowledge. It makes total sense to me that whoever came up with this idea completely understands the meaning.

Great song, terrific band and Grace Slick brings it all together !!

I am hearing so many great songs from the past now used in commercials.
Aerosmith, Opus, Prince and many others are now just background music for a product.
I guess that is how the bands make money these days since most music is available free online.
The songs are definitely effective at catching our attention!

I thought this was Celebrity Cruises, not RCCL.

RC and Celebrity are sister companies, but the logo at the end does say Celebrity Cruises. That is a very strange commercial, IMO.

@dawg lover Thank you.

The first time I saw the commercial and heard the song along with it, I laughed out loud. That had to be one of THE biggest drug songs when I was a teenager. Psychedelic music is all about drug references. Maybe they should use the song as a theme for Viagra or Cialis. Think about the words and you'll get that. Can't write more or I'll get kicked off. LOL.

It is for Celebrity, not RCCL. While they are both owned by Royal Caribbean, they are 2 different lines and the types of cruises are different.
I too find the commercial odd.

I completely agree with you and thought the exact same thing. I have no doubt that most people, and most, meaning that most people alive today where not alive when the song was new, have no idea that it is a drug song.
