I am really liking this show but am confused about one thing. Who is Cookie supposed to get information on for the FBI?

I think she is being called to testify against her former supplier. The guy that she thought the rose was from although it was actually from Lucious.

I have to start watching this. Am I correct in thinking that the detective that was killed of in person of interest plays in this but I think she is too young for the character she plays?
