Hello everyone. I have watched General Hospital for years, like many of you. Also like many of you, I missed out on a good chunk of it when I was working full time and there was no way to record shows. Thank goodness I never miss a show now, except when the news interrupts it, which is annoying, to say the least. I also enjoy reading the GH thread here. You ladies are a hoot. I was wondering how you guys would answer these questions about the current cast of characters. (As a side note, I don't like using the word, "hate," but it gets my point across.)

1. Love the character, love the actor - Tied between Alexis and Franco

2. Hate the character, hate the actor - Sam, Sam, Sam, Sam, and Sam

3. Love the character, hate the actor - Nicholas (the current guy)

4. Hate the character, love the actor - Carly

Well...I'm "Old school" GH lover. Don't love it anymore and after more than 40 yrs. stopped watching for good. I'm not into the Corrinthos family now replacing the Q's, and so many other reasons...so I'll be answering with some old school peeps:

1) Laura/Genie (not as she's written now...boring. But based on a spectaculor legacy)

2) I'm with you!! Sam, Sam, Saaaam...wheeepy, sniveling, monotone, Sammmmm.

3) I'm with ya there too...NO one can replace Tyler Christopher in that role. And least of all this guy

4) No feelings on this one. But I understand yours for sure. Laura's a good actress...who definitely made "this" incarnation of Carly her own. I loved the Tamara Braun years...she was my favorite Carly...maybe I liked the show better then too. But I gotta admit...Laura, owns it. She's obnoxxxxious...so I guess the fact you hate the character prove she's done her job!

@amyb Yes, Tyler Christopher was the best. I googled him awhile ago. I guess he has/had some alcohol issues? I would love to see him get his act together and come back to GH. If not, I hope he has found other work.

Yes I'd read that too. I hope he gets it together too, and would love to see him come back to the role of Nicholas.

I haven't watched for about 45 years, but was there a couple with the names Jan and Howie? He was a blowhard and she was a whiner. I loved watching back then.

I've been watching GH for 40+ years with the exception of a break with Oscar's demise. It was just drug on way too long.

1. Steve Burton as Jason - do we need to say more?

2. Kelly Monaco as Sam - wish they could find a real

woman for Jason.

3. Laura Wright as Carly - while hate is a strong word, just don't care for her.

4. Roger Howarth as Franco - he's completely mismatched in this role and should be playing a more dynamic character.

I think Genie Francis grew into a good actress (I thought she was pretty bad as young Laura Weber, but that's understandable). Completely agree with you, @amyb , about Sam. On top of everything you said, she also mumbles to the point where she's incomprehensible. As for Laura Wright, she really did make that part her own. The mature Carly is a much more well-rounded character than the earlier versions.

By the way, I stopped recording/watching GH when Covid led to the repeats, and I haven't been tempted to resume the habit with the new shows. I still enjoy reading what long-term fans have to say about the characters of old, which is why this thread piqued my interest!
