Please help me pronounce Dr. Anthony Fauci's name for my husband, who has a hearing problem.

I am hearing Fauci pronounced phonetically like "ouch"  Fouchi

He is hearing it like "sassy"   Foussi

Which way is correct.... The "ouch" way OR the "sass" way???

I've always heard it pronounced like the word "ouch".  I just hope we are allowed to hear reports from Dr. Fauci himself.

It is pronounced "Fouchee," the "ou" sounding like the "ou" in "ouch." 

In Italian, the combination "ci" makes the English "ch" sound, as in "choo choo."

In a way, his name can be simplified by saying "ouchie, " as in the children's way of saying they have an injury that hurts, and putting an "f" before it.

@sophiamarie  I worked at NIH 35 yrs and Dr. Anthony Fauci was there at the time.
