Planet of the Apes movie....

[ Edited ]

I remember watching the original Planet of the Apes movies when I was a little girl in the late 70's and early 80's. I know they came out before that, but I really love these movies. I loved Charlton Heston also. Anyway, I think we are going to see the new one this weekend called War for the Planet of the Apes. I will admit that I have not seen the ones that came out in 2011 and 2014, but I need to. I did like the one from 2001 with Mark Wahlberg. Anyone else watch these movies? Thoughts on the new one?

Kind of silly.  They make the animals too human , so, as to wrench the pity from the viewing audience.  Like the old time Bambi movies. They're still doing it with monkeys.

Saw the new one and really liked it.  I've seen the first two and this wasn't quite as good as the second one but it held my interest.

@wvumountiefan  I also loved the original Planet of the Apes with Charlton Heston.

I was a kid and was really surprised when they showed the Statue of Liberty in the final scene.

We liked the last ones enough to go see this one at the theater.

I want to see this movie too. I remember watching the original movie on tv when I was little in the 70's and it always seemed to be on tv in the Summertime.

@SharkE

It's what this whole movie franchise is all about. Smiley LOL

The newer franchise is actually the back stories.  It's explained exactily how the monkeys, apes, etc became "too human."

Re: Planet of the Apes movie....

True,

I remember either poor Roger Ebert or his co host saying "I don't like being manipulated". That's stuck with me all these yrs.

Think these movies are entertaining, but, stretch the imagination.
