Michell’e dress looks like a craft project.
I don’t really know what to think of Anthony Ryan’s & Dmitry’s. They were both interesting, but neither really said ball gown. Too bad Dmitry ran out of fabric. The thing I really like least about it is that other fabric on the bottom. I do like the invisible way the pieces are held together.
Hate Bidell’s. How would one dance in something like that?
Irina’s dress is too revealing for a ball gown. Had the sheer fabric not been so sheer, I would love it.
I won't spoil it for all of you who DVR'd it as far as the winner and who went home goes.

Three of the five hadn't enough fabric so, since silk is expensive, $300 may not have been enough money to design an actual ball gown.

You would think they would have some idea what silk costs before setting a cost for the designers. Maybe that's part of the challenge, how to make a ball gown out of silk on a budget which probably means mixing silk with other fabrics.

When did Nina G. become fashion royalty? Alyssa said this and I thought, what?
Iris A. should be a permanent judge in my opinion.
IMO, they sent the wrong designer home tonight.

The wrong person went home once again! Michelle's was like a Summer dress from the 70s. It was NOT a ball gown.
I cried when Anthony Ryan left. I really like him and from other seasons too. He tried too hard and just couldn't get there.
At first I didn't like Irina' with the "snakes" on the bottom but I ended up liking it in the finished product. Isaac had it right when he said it could have used more fabric underneath it.
I loved Biddell's even though I've seen it before; but it was well-made.
I really loved Dimitry's and too bad he ran out of fabric but he did what he could and I think it turned out well.
You can tell that Isaac LOVES Michelle and he said so. I'm sure she's thrilled.
Onto next week. Should be a fun one.
Alyssa is still looking horrible and that dress w/the huge pearls reminded me of Wilma Flinstone. That was the first thing that came to mind. LOL.

Iris told it as it was and it was a honest one too. I like her.

Irina's dress was the only real "ball" gown. Bidell's and Dmitry's were at least formal gowns. Michelle's and Anthony Ryan's were just long (and horrible looking) and in no way resembled formal wear.
The challenge was a ball gown made of silk. Unless the netting Irina used was silk, hers did not meet the requirements.
For all-stars, these designers have turned out some hideous and poorly constructed and fitted garments.
Alyssa M continues to wear some questionable ensembles. She struts out like a child playing fashion model.

As usual I disliked every one. Irina's I disliked the least. None were fit for royalty (have they never seen royalty?) and most of them were a hot mess. I agree with Anthony's auf as I think he should never have been cast because he's not good enough to be an "All Star," he didn't do that well on Regular PR.

The show is over forever in two weeks. Thank goodness! Bye, horrible show!!!
I completely agree that Nina is fashion royalty. She's earned it. She's and an important editor and a tastemaker for so many years. Can't wait to see her back tonight on regular PR.
FYI for fans of Nina she had a double mastectomy like month. It won't affect the show because it's taped and fashion week is happening...? Well after her recovery.
Does anyone else think her voice sounds hoarse?

I doubt she wants to be tied down, she's barely appeared on PR.
Anyway I'm writing because I searched and searched for who wrote that eloquent post about Iris Apfel last week or the week before and I couldn't find it. And now I assume it's you? It was so eloquent. Beautifully descriptive and I loved reading it, so thanks. She is amazing and a national treasure.
