Re: PBS : The Powder and the Glory

@ECBG I retired from teaching, but that was years ago. My son  has graduated from college and my husband is retired. So we travel to see family all the time & to our home out of state. It's nice to have that freedom.

@nrmI'm a retired teacher as well.  I miss it and am now mentoring former students whom have just gotten masters, or just want to "touch base"!

@ECBG What a valuable service you're providing. They're very lucky to have you. I retired early in my career to raise my son and move wherever my husband's career took him. Looking back it was all worth it as I wouldn't have missed that time w/ my son. I did miss working, tho so I found a fun job - not teaching as we never knew when my husband would get transferred - when my son was in college.

@nrmI taught 36 years, had over 20,000 students!   We were fortunate to be able to live and rear our two boys here after we got transfered back from starting out in a VERY large city because of technology.  This is a major vacation spot in the Blue Ridge Parkway.

What area are you in?

@ECBG Currently we're in the Deep South but we've live all over and overseas. The Blue Ridge Pkwy is beautiful. Driven through it many times. You are in the tech capital!

Re: PBS : The Powder and the Glory

@ECBG Well, heck! I thought we were going to do popcorn whenever I find that stupid DVD! Lol!  I don't have a Facebook page. I've just never done it. I'd probably be doing that, watching tv, movies and who knows what else all at the same time! Multitasking is getting too much! Actually, I've just heard too many bad stories about it,but like I said I'm tech challenged and my husband is not patient enough to teach me. However, if I do I'll let you know.

@nrmWe'll still do popcorn, but it may get stale before you get here!!!LOL!  Facebook isn't dangerous as long as when they ask you how you want your settings, you say "friends", "No friends OF friends" which would eventually link you to too many people.  I've found a lot of former students on it and we talk.  These days with cell phones and no phone book, it's a really good way.  Just google it and they'll lead you to it.  That easy, with no cost!

Do you have email?
