In my dreams, I want to be escorted backstage at the Oscars on the arm of Brad Pitt.

Like Peter O'Toole, she will be overlooked until she receives the obligatory Honorary Oscar.

Which could be thought of as a gold plated insult.

@deepwaterdotter ...this made me smile.

And, if I was back in the 70s, I'd want either Richard Burton or David Janssen to escort me backstage AND back to the hotel room, LOL...Brahahahahaha... (sorry, couldn't help myself) Hubba Bubba.

This is how I feel about Barbara Stanwyck, who gets my vote for best actress to never win an Oscar. Honorary, my arse.

I don't think anyone is suggesting 1st Amendment rights do not apply to Hollywood. That said, it also seems many folks have already expressed their intent not to tune in to the actual awards, so the whole 'then don't watch' mantra is really unnecessary, it would seem. On the other hand, most folks with opinions don't have a built in venue, complete with free air time, like an awards show, to spout their views, making the leaping assumption that anyone cares or is actually watching to hear the pearls of alleged wisdom falling forth from their overpaid mouths. As for putting their money where their mouth is, I tend to think not. Rare is the acceptance speech that veers too far away from Hollywood's preferred and predictable stance, posture, position or bearing. Nope, no real risk taking going on there.

By putting their money where their mouth is I was referring to customers.  I have heard people on this forum say they would not go to Merle Streep movie because of her politics.  I think some entertainers and companies hide their political beliefs so they don't lose customers.

FACT!!! @DiAnne I have been known to be taken aback by some when they have opportunity to talk about anything.  Even when they are on press junkets for projects just completed.  Not just at awards shows.  I really don't care what their ideology is.  If you churn out good work that deserves my coins then I'm game.  They're not going to change my mind about a thing anyway!

Boy! They really raced through the Deceased Actors this year; really was so fast as to be disrespectful!

@gertrudecloset

She didn't.

And, no, I'm not watching.  Just occasionally checking Oscars.org.  Predictable, so far.
