Louise's Oscar winning performance was breath taking, wonderful and a clear front runner to win the award.  However,  competition was rather weak during this period when notable starring roles for actresses were few.

Louise Fletcher, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest.

• Ann-Margret, Tommy.
• Glenda Jackson,  Hedda.
• Carol Kane,  Hester Street.

Her parents were great activists for the deaf.

They were missionaries & founded many churches for the deaf

Louise raised her children then followed her dream.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest was groundbreaking for its time.

I'm not into awards so much but LF certainly gave an outstanding performance.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, one of the best movies among so many.  While I loved Nicholson and many of the cast in their roles, the one role which stood out for me was Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched.  She excelled in that role, so cold and unemotional, what a great part and only a great actress could pull it off as Louise did.  

I am sorry to hear she has passed but she has left her mark and legacy in the entertainment world.  May she be at peace with God.

I do appreciate your heartfelt thread.

Her performance in Cuckoo's Nest must have made an impression on me.  Two years after seeing it for the first time, I was in college studying Theatre and Film.

Now I'm a psychiatric nurse.
