Orson Welles' "Touch of Evil" Alert 12:15 a.m. Eastern tonight TCM

Some have said this is one of the greatest film noirs of the golden era of film noir 1940-1959.

 

Welles still has "it" as a great director.  Charlton Heston is a fluently bilingual Mexican on his honeymoon with wife Janet Leigh in a seething border-town environment.

 

Welles's stars in this himself, as a corrupt policeman up against the idealistic and straight-arrow Charlton Heston.   Fabulous swirling photography, much intrigue (Janet Leigh gets kidnapped, among other things), great character actors and cameos (even Marlene Dietrich is in this!)

 

If it's too late for you to watch, I highly recommend you DVR this one...

 

Is the midnight hour considered a.m. or p.m.?   I never can remember!
