@cookinfreak. I love that film In & Out. It is so funny, esp Joan Cusack -- but it is waaaaay dated! It actually also applies in the films that are outdated thread.

And yes, Kline did a great job in his solo dance scene.

"Is EVERYBODY gay???"

Yup, a favorite of mine.  I guess I don't look at movies as being "dated".  Always look at when they were made and adjust my brain accordingly.

@denisemb

And my favorite of hers: "Couldn't you have said something BEFORE NOW?"

I only mentioned "dated" because of the thread that was started a few days ago.

Yeah, another good line.  She was nominated for an Oscar, but didn't win.  Wilford Brimley had some funny lines, too.

Oh, I wasn't critisizing movies that seem dated to some, just look at them differently, I guess.

[ Edited ]

I watched Children of Hiroshima (1952) last night.  It was one of the first movies made after occupying forces left the country following WWII and Japanese filmmakers were allowed to make movies again. It was set in Japan 4 years after the end of WWII and a Hiroshima native returns to the city to see the lingering effects of the atom bomb. I expected it to have an anti-American theme, but it didn't. It was certainly anti-war, but not anti-American. I never heard of it before, but heard some of the TCM hosts talking about it, so I decided to watch it ... glad I did.

I watch a lot of film noir, and other types, have a substantial collection, but recently saw Urban Cowboy, so funny as Travolta had a mad, pouty face throughout the entire movie, lol, but it was fun.

Watched "Yankee Doodle Dandy" on the 4th.  Love that movie.  Cagney was an amazing talent:  Great actor and dancer.

I watched Mister Roberts again the other day.  You're right.  He was amazing.

If interested, "Mister Roberts"  is on again tonight on TCM at 8:00 PM.  Yea!

I just watched The Mortal Storm (1940) last night. It had been on TCM. Excellent movie about what happened to a German family and their friends/collegues after Hitler came to power in 1933. James Stewart, Robert Young, Irene Rich, Margaret Sullavan, Frank Morgan.

"Jezebel" is a favorite....

"This is 1852 dumplin', 1852, not the Dark Ages. Girls don't have to simper around in white just because they're not married."

"I'm kneeling to you"...perfection.  Her dress billows around....
