Day BRe: old movies have you watched lately that you enjoyed

Day before yesterday we re watched "October Sky"; pleased to say my 9 year old grandson loved it (me too, one of my all time favorites, with a very young Jake Gyllenhaal).

@Pearlee   Tom Berringer!  Loved him in The Big Chill, Major League and then a sleeper;  Someone to Watch Over Me with Mimi Rogers and a young Lorraine Bracco.  He was in another one with Debra Winger, played against type, the title escapes me.  I, always, thought he was so good looking!

We rarely,if ever, watch "newer" movies. Some of the people (actors) I consider newer actors.

@Somertime. Yes that film with Winger is Betrayed where he played a white supremacist and she went undercover as an FBI agent. And don't forget he was the killer in Looking For Mr. Goodbar.

Yes so handsome! If you have never seen Shattered you must see it. It's really.good.

A few weeks ago DH & I watched ' Fried Green Tomatoes ' again , we both enjoy it every few years. Down side we had to rent/stream it , as couldn't find it free anywehere.  We always enjoy 'To Kill a Mockingbird' . 'Return to Me' is a delight, it is shown on antenna tv a lot.

We enjoyed 'The Hatfields & Mc Coys ' also.

@okaywitheasypay. Then you may be interested to know that the book To Kill A Mockingbird was released 60 years ago today.

Re: Old(er?) movies have you watched lately that you enjoyed

@denisemb I stumbled on a movie on the Sundance channel called, "Testament Of Youth."  It's based on a famous antiwar memoir published in 1933. It was written by a young woman named Vera Brittain who had served as a nurse tending to gravely wounded servicemen in World War I. She set out to tell the story of those left behind.  It beautifully recounts four young people, men a nd a woman, who gave up their youth to join the fight.  It reminded me of my youth and the eperiences and actions I took that most likely  affected my adult life.  The author Vera Brittain returned from the front and went back to Oxford to continue her studies.  A very different person, she became a pacifist.

Watched "Yankee Doodle Dandy" on the 4th.  Love that movie.  Cagney was an amazing talent:  Great actor and dancer.

@LyndaGee

I watched Mister Roberts again the other day.  You're right.  He was amazing.

@Pearlee  I was not aware of that , but interesting . It stands up in time to being one of the best.

@LyndaGee  Cagney was talented. I remember in my youth how every impersonator had him in their act. I think he did a dance scene in the old Bob Hope movie " The Seven Little Foys " That was an old movie that I used to watch occasionally. I did a search in the roku  and it  wouldn't even show up.
