@Johnnyeager , You have me on a Shirley Booth quest. Of course, I knew her from her "Hazel" years, and certainly from Come Back Little Sheba (which devastates me still). Now I want to delve more into her history.

Some Oscar Trivia:

Hepburn,  nominated for Summertime, lost to Italian actress Anna Magnani (The Rose Tattoo.)

Page, nominated for Summer and Smoke, lost to Italian actress Sophia Loren (Two Women.)

Tough votes all around. IMO, Hepburn should have won the Oscar for Summertime. Magnani deserved an Oscar for The Fugitive Kind. Page deserved the win for Summer and Smoke. Loren deserved an Oscar for It Happened in Naples. I hope that makes sense.

@Toots711

I love this movie and have seen it many times.

It's just perfection from the clothing to scenery.

I read once that while filming this movie Miss Hepburn fell into one of the canals in Venice.  The waters were so laden with bacteria that she got an eye infection that never totally cleared up for the rest of her life!

I love the movie "The Desk Set" because it gives a glimpse of life in NYC in the 1950s.

A simpler time in the sophisticated city.

I love Summertime!!  One of my favorite movies and I have it on DVD.  I don't know why it is rarely shown on TV.  Everything about is perfect, the actors, music and beautiful scenery.  Venice is one of the most beautiful places in the world and when I visited there, I was thinking of this movie.

Remembering Shirley Booth, who passed away 30 years ago today. The Hazel star is one of only 24 people who has achieved the "Triple Crown of Acting". She won an Academy Award, three Tony Awards, and her role as Hazel won her two Primetime Emmy Awards. 🏆 Bonus - she also won a Golden Globe Award!

Interestingly, Shirley also originated the role of Bunny Watson in The Desk Set on Broadway.

Of her handful of films I love, in addition to Sheba, About Mrs Leslie and Hot Spell.

Hot Spell is a rare find, if you come across it.

@Johnnyeager

 Yrs ago when they had  some TV show or it may have been TCM that said that she said she incurred a persistent eye infection after that movie scene of falling in the dirty  canal water.
