Sounds like Oprah wants to be the next Barbara Walters. Never! Big pass on Oprah.

Barbara Walters was a groundbreaking pioneer, but Oprah's accomplishments have far surpassed those of Barbara Walters. Just say you don't like her and leave it at that.

I don’t think she surpassed Barbara Walters. Barbara paved the way for women. Oprah included.

@manny2 Oprah is a media mogul and her own brand, Barbara Walters was never that. Of course Barbara Walters helped pave the way, that's what a pioneer does.

I agree Oprah built an empire. I know exactly what a pioneer is and what they do. Barbara Walters paved the way for Oprah to have the opportunity. That’s all.

You can’t compare what they did its apples to oranges.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Barbara Walters was in the oval office with Presidents in the '60's, Oprah was in a room full of housewives in the '80's.  Barbara's accomplishments in her career outweigh  Ophra's talk show status.

I agree with you. @beckyb1012  There is no comparison. One would not have had the opportunity without the other.

I understand, but seriously it is like saying that a Bus Driver is on the same level as an Astronaut, since they both can see the stars in the heavens at night in their respective vehicles!!

Oprah said without Barbara Walters “there wouldn’t have been me”

I think that says it all @beckyb1012

This arguing back and forth about Oprah and Barbara Walters is absurd.

@manny2 We certainly will. The apparent need to try to diminish Oprah's success as a self-made icon having overcome poverty, sexual assault, misogyny, racisim, and Jim Crow by injecting Barbara Walters into the conversation is disengenuous.

I was never a fan of Barbara, certainly not of Oprah either.  I find both of them self-serving women with egos over the moon.  They use other people's often sad issues to further their ambitions.
