I just watched this film on HBO MAX ( I think it may be available on HULU at some point). It stars Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Toni Collete, Willem Dafoe, and more (great cast), directed by Guillermo del Toro. I found it rather disturbing, but I did like it. I believe it is nominated for an Oscar for best picture as is The Power Of The Dog. Between the two my vote would be for Nightmare Alley as I didn't like the other film.

@Jordan2 Nightmare Alley was excellent character driven but definitely disturbing all in all.  I haven't seen Power of the Dog but it is on my wish list.

I have seen the original Nightmare Alley with Tyrone Power.  I found it scary but an unbelieveable movie, so good I don't think I could bear to see a remake.

I've seen both versions of Nightmare Alley.  If anyone is interested in what critics/viewers see between the two films (1947 vs. 2021), this is an interesting read.

Doesn't this film have full frontal male nudity? ( Although I may be mixing it up with another film).

@Pearlee I watched it and unless I nodded off for a minute ( which is possible) no frontal nudity.

I also I thought he was in a movie with full frontal nudity.

I admit I never caught the name of the movie.  I just thought it was recent.

Movies come and go in theatres so quickly these days.

My guess (and that's what it is) is that it's moving so quickly because people aren't going to the movies much now.

We watched it 2 nights ago on HBO MAX & watched the original with TCM Eddie Mueller commentary a month ago. Wow! A cautionary tale about human flaws & for me, the horror of alcoholism. I really liked both movies& they were very different. The new release was more graphic of course.
