@CANDLEQUEEN  Not a different show.   Accused 1st episode starred Michael Chiklis

Maybe you're confused?

I've watched both episodes and I'm hooked. The acting is extraordinary and I find the storylines compelling and thought provoking.

@Mz iMac I didn't mean you were confused-I thought maybe you were confusing it with another show with a similar name. I now see that the 1st episode actually premiered Sunday, and I thought last night's episode was the 1st episode. I will have to catch the 1st episode On Demand!!!  I am enjoyinjg this new show.....

Watched the 1st episode w/Michael Chiklis.  Didn't know the episode ended until it did!  It was ok.  Didn't find it disturbing at all.   Looks to me the show will be based on "current" events.

It's like a backwards Law & Order. Smiley Tongue

Haven't watched the 2nd episode yet.

@Mz iMac This is a different program, the one I was referring to was the new show on FOX, called Accused. It just debuted last night! There is a different storyline each week. There must be another show with similar names that you are referring to!! ????

The first episode was on Sunday It was called Scott's Story. It starred Michael Chiklis. It was very good. You watched the second story: Ava's Story.

I liked the premiere last week, but last night's episode was so contrived, it bordered on the ridiculous and was almost comical. For example, it would be too clear that the parents' opting for cochlear implants for their baby was none of the [biologically unrelated] surrogate's business, and certainly not a defense for kidnapping the baby, so they had the deaf surrogate eavesdrop on the arguing couple in their own home, via a device, to introduce that defense at trial.

Then there was the annoying, shrill attorney for the parents, the presiding judge's reaction to her, and the judge's bias as evidenced by her facial expressions, leading to the predictable dismissal of charges, and the baby's mother assuring the kidnapper that they'd forget about cochlear implants and teach the baby to sign.

The premise of this series is an interesting one, so I hope last night's episode was the exception. Last week's was good, and I'll be watching next week.

I've watched both episodes, and while I thought the first was better than the second, I liked the premise of the second. I can't think a woman who carries a child and delivers it can accept the child being mistreated and just walk away.

I think Ava's Story was about the surrogate that carried the child for the couple. She was deaf and was treated  very poorly when she was raised. Her mother appeared to have ice running through her veins. When the baby was born deaf and the parents wanted to change her so she would be accepted, this broke her heart. When she heard them argue, she didn't want the baby to be mistreated. She was doing what comes naturally to most mothers. She was overly protective. Should she have kidnapped the baby; of course not.

I thought it was a beautiful story about acceptance. The parents understood and realized she was just being honest.  I thought the ending was very sweet. This is just my synopsis of the story.

I thought it was cool that Marlee Matlin directed Ava's story.
