First of all, let me say I'm not recommending it; it was a shocking documentary to me and would be interested in your thoughts if you have seen it.

The title is Rocco, and it's about an Italian porn star.  The doc is VERY EXPLICIT and is porn itself.  Nothing left to the imagination.

I think he should have been arrested.  He came to LA to do a film with some LA porn actresses, who were so excited about "meeting" Rocco, he has quite a reputation for his....  I'm self-editing, don't want to get poofed too soon.  The scenes with these women were awful; all I saw on their faces was pain and fear, if there was any pleasure involved it didn't show.  At all.

Normally I would say these women knew what they were getting into, but his abuses were horrific.  It seemed to me they (the women) thought it was a badge of honor that they could handle him at first, but....yikes is all II can say.

I guess I always thought it was harmless if people choose to make a living that way, but all I saw with these women were that they were powerless and brainwashed into thinking it's some sort of honor to be with a scumbag like this guy. His ego is off the charts.  I kept thinking there would be some sort of consequence to his actions at the end of it, but it turns out he was just celebrating his last time on film; he's decided to be a full time family man now I guess.  He ha a wife who says she is just fine with his occupation, and has two teenage boys.

THIS DOCUMENTARY IS EXPLICIT AND DISTURBING.  And yes, I watched it all.  Out of curiosity at first, and then it was like a train wreck I couldn't take my eyes off of.

I'm not quite following you @Caligurll, is the documentary about the p*rn business? The actor? His personality/ego? His treatment of his female partners? Should have been arrested for????

Good question, @JaneMarple.  I had a hard time figuring it out too. Apparently he just wanted to document his last film. I just kept thinking there had to be a moral to the story, but there wasn't.  He was just celebrating himself.

Which is where my confusion comes in.  It seemed like total abuse of these women to me, even though they seemed like willing participants at the time.  It made me wonder how much brainwashing, for lack of a better word, they had been subjected to in their lives to think what he did was ok.

Or maybe I'm just surprised this was a Netflix offeriing.

Either way, it really made an impression on me.  My initial thought was that he should be arrested for abuse, whether consensual or not.  I don't think these women had any idea of what he was capable of doing to them.

@JaneMarpleAnd what I thought he should have been arrested for was abusing these women.  He shoved his fist down their throats.  They were not expecting that, even though they knew he had a bad reputation.

I think it just left me with conflicting emotions.  These women went into it willingly so that's on them.  But his treatment of them was just disturbing and violent.  They were in awe of him; so I guess at a minimum he is just taking advantage of what he can get away with under the guise of consensual.

If the purpose of a documentary is to make a person think about an issue, this certainly did it for me.

Noticed the film while browsing documentaries would never watch abuse. His film status quo no surprise.

@Caligurll

You said you saw pain and fear on the women's faces.  What did he do to them that elicited those kinds of expressions?  Is it possible that their expressions were part of the script, and they were not really feeling pain and fear, but merely acting like they were?

If the women were really afraid, and in pain, I don't understand why they would continue, unless they were desperate for money. If that's the case it seems very exploitative.

I'm afraid I can't give you my perspective, as someone who has watched it. It sounds like a very disturbing movie. One I wouldn't be able to sit through.

Re: New Documenary on Netflix

How was he abusing them?   I'm confused

Were they involved in these movies without consent?

Was he abusive because of his size?   I don't know how to word it appropriately for this board?

Re: New Documenary on Netflix

I could never watch a film where people are being abused. Not even out of curiosity would I want to watch something like that so thanks for the warning.
