I think they should had aged the two actors they had.

When you lose some one you L~O~V~E, that Memory of them, becomes a TREASURE.

Interesting!  I really do like the current two lead actors and wish they would have aged them, too.  However, I am watching The Terror on AMC and Tobias is one of the lead actors and is doing a good job so far.

there was an explanation as to why not,

 

its out there somewhere, but I can't remember where I read it 

 

made sense to me

I could not agree more.  Season 3 features the 1970s, so you'd think it would be quite easy to age the actors another 10-15 years.  They are both spot on as the royal couple.

The male lead is a good actor, but for those of us that watch "Outlander"  -- I think I will have a hard time accepting his as the Prince.

Aging the present characters for this series wasn't ever going to happen. From the get-go they were using different actors as this drama progresses. I'm not surprised.
