Buttons is an eatery where one may enjoy live music and soul food in an upper-register, yet casual environment. The owner of Buttons is the laid-back brother, Keith "Buttons" Hicks. He's a very well dressed restaurateur and does not appreciate the management stylings of his new manager Tony, who happens to be ex-military. However, he is not exactly sure what is going on.
Enter Charles Stiles and his team. He is accompanied by Ben, who will train as a waiter, with Justin and Nicole, who will be focused on management.
Ben is instructed to show up for work 5-minutes late, on his first day. He is reprimanded and threatened to be terminated if there is another tardy on his record. Yikes!
Unyielding Tony heads into the kitchen, which seems to be spotless. He then administers the white glove test. He lectures the chef.
Ben asks another member of the waitstaff what she thinks about Tony and she tells him that Tony is bad to work for and that some people have left the job because of him.
We then focus on Shanitha who is one of Keith's best wait persons. She is jovial, friendly without being overly chatty and customer-oriented. Keith seems to have it bad for her.
He reprimands her about her friendly manner and asks her to keep it professional. He apologizes to the people at one of her tables and give them free dessert, even though they were not dissatisfied with Shanitha.
Waiter Otis shows up for work, almost an hour late. He is forced to do 20 push-ups in the kitchen. But, Otis seems to like Tony. It is discovered that Otis did R.O.T.C. in high school and admires Tony. Blech!
When pitted against one another, in a secret test, Shanitha and Otis must serve Justin and Nicole. They each order something. When the food arrives, they each assert that they had wanted it a different way.
Tony makes Otis run laps around the building for his "mistake" and Shanitha is bullied into quitting.
When Keith pulls Tony into his office, he instructs Tony as to how we should alter his management style. However, he will not fire Tony, because he has served our country.
This one certainly ends better than it started. However, I would also ensure that he stop harassing good work members.
