I hate them also.  I think this is only the second time I have done this.  I find it very annoying trying to read the words and look at what is happening at the same time.

I’m reading the book now and watched one episode so far.  I find the subtitles fall away because the story is so engrossing. And I have captions on for Programs in English so I’m used to it. 

 

The book is wonderful so far.

I finished it a few days ago and I’m Chomping at the bit to get the second one. It is so immersive and Ferrante is an exceptional story teller.
