Maybe she is not in denial. Maybe her medical problem has caused her to gain weight and just maybe her doctor has confirmed this.
It's the same old, same old thing. It doesn't matter if and why someone is over weight, it's always their fault if they are and if they wanted to, they could lose the weight.
Not everyone is like you. Just because you didn't gain weight doesn't mean she didn't because of her condition.
i could say more, but I better stop myself.
As I said before Whitney needs help. Her weight will shortened her life and that would be very sad!

I don't think any of us knows this girl's future (that her life will be shortened).
I know there are people who are overweight who have health problems but there are some who don't. My grandma raised me. She was always what would now be called Obease. She and my Aunt (her daughter) lived to be in their late 90's. My grandmother's mother (an American Indian) lived to be 115 years old! She wasn't overweight, but what I'm saying is we don't know what will happen in life.
I've always told my daughters, "Enjoy today, love today, don't wish it away. But, look forward to tomorrow when it will be even better, if you let it.
Here's another one for you....Today is a gift from GOD. He has given me 24 hours to use as I wish. At the end of the day I hope I don't regret the price I paid for it".
I'm just full of little ditty's like that. Ha!

That lady can dance! And move! She has more energy than me. If she can move like that at 400 pounds....what can she do at normal weight? I just hope her knees and hips hold out.

I have to agree with you daisy. I remember the show where she was making herself a mayo and banana sandwich and her dad took it away from her and made her an egg (one) and one slice of turkey bacon sandwich. He ate the mayo and banana sandwich and complimented her on how good it was - so her parents (dad, at least) is on to her. She is blaming her PCOS disease for all of her weight loss, instead of some of it.
I know that PCOS affects everyone differently. Some people don't gain weight at all but Whitney knows she isn't following the advice given to her. I love the mom too and think they are the perfect "reality show" family - but I also think if Whitney really wanted to lose weight, she is intelligent enough to know how. BUT, then again, would there even be a show?
Whitney is also sending out a lot of mixed messages. On the one hand, she loves, loves, loves her body and while she says that, she is crying about all the things she cannot do because of her size. She is truly gambling with her life. Unfortunate, but true.

Well said, Jobran! Whitney is already dealing with a health issue because she is prediabetic. That is no joke. Other health issues like heart disease, enlarged liver and kidney failure are real possibilities. Losing weight is very hard and not everyone can do it. I just hope Whitney makes the right decisions and gets the help she needs.

She moved in with her BFF Buddy. Then, when she found out she might be diabetic, she moved back in with her parents? I don't get that. She's 30 y/o. Why did she have to move back home? Did I miss something?
Now, she has a new boyfriend and they are living together. She also wrote a book.

i have watched this show a bit and i find it so sad. She is morbidly obese and does not seem to be taking it seriously. IN my opinion she should love herself but not her body. if she continues on the path she has set for herself she is going to cut her life short. And BTW her mother seems a little off.

She's beyond morbidly obese- I'm defined as morbidly obese and I'm half her size! It's true being thin doesn't always equate to being healthy- but more often than not being heavy is a pre cursor for a whole host of medical problems. Some might not be life threatening (knee, hip and other joint problems for example), but most ultimately lead to serious health issues. I'm getting on track myself since my #'s indicate the high range of pre diabetic. I've seen the health decline of too many family members...

Growing up we always had sweets and junk food in our house. I always told my daughters there was nothing wrong with eating some sweets or any kind of food as long as it was in moderation.
The word in our house was 'eat until you're full and then push it away'. I never believed in the 'clean plate policy'. We'd have mostly vegetables at our dinner table because I loved vegetables and since I was the cook, that's what we got.
I was always a picky eater and my grandma (who raised me) let me eat what I wanted. I wasn't overweight until my first baby and I never got the extra weight off. I'm overweight but not grossly.
There is absolutely nothing good that comes from being overweight (we all know that). I agree that good eating habits start at home.
When other children would come over our house they'd head for the candy and junk food, some would go so crazy I'd have to remove them. My girls said they weren't allowed any of that at their house.
None of my 3 daughters or grandchildren are overweight at all. They eat plenty but healthy. They lead busy lives so if they eat McDonalds one day they'll make sure to eat healthy another day.
Education is the key to it. Some people associate love with eating.
We all (if honest) have some kind of issue in our lives. Unfortunately, overweight people often show some of their 'issues'.
My best friend laid in bed and died because she was so overweight the Drs said they couldn't help her with her cancer of the cervix. Her sister went to roll her over in bed to change the sheets and she rolled on her arm and broke it. There was no reason to set it because she was told she would soon die. I went to see her because she called and said she was dying.
I loved her like she was my sister. I have never known a kinder person on this earth. Two days later I called her and her 'boyfriend' said she'd died.
When i told my daughters about this guy that was there and controlled her everything they said "Mom, some people call them 'chubby chasers'. I said that was terrible. They said these are men who are attracted to very obease women mostly because they can control them. They have low self-esteem so it isn't that difficult. I checked into this guy and it appears they may have been right about him.
I think it is great this girl is happy in her life. She says she's losing weight, but more importantly, she isn't sitting in her room, sad. No one deserves to be sad in life. I think she'll do well.
It does sound like she should move out of her parent's house though. I remember seeing a show about a girl like her and she finally moved out and they followed her. She loved baseball but could never play (too fat). She soon lost some weight and as she did she joined a team.
In the end she had a few pounds to go but was doing great.
Let's give this TV girl some credit and hope that she'll continue to be happy whatever happens to her. That's what matters, happiness in this life.

As much as I like the show and all the characters in it - I wonder if there would even be a show if not for Whitney's obesity. I really liked the parents a lot. Mom is a little ditzy but maybe that's just for the cameras? Dad seems concerned about Whitney and her eating habits but now, after reading some of his tweets, I think he's also enjoying being in a reality show. He is cheering Whitney on with every tweet. I am liking him less and less and it's making me very leery about this show.
Whitney looks like if you stuck a pin in her, she will explode. The bigger she gets, the happier she "seems". Whitney is certainly the star of the show. I would like to watch her lose weight while doing the show. Then, maybe I'll feel better about the whole thing. JMO
