I really like Whitney. At first I was not sure about the show....but,by the end of the first season I liked the raw open feelings....I love her Mother! It sure opened my eyes and heart in many respects to how cruel people are towards overweight people.

I saw it only one time, thought she and her family were very sweet. It makes me feel sad that she is that heavy at such a young age. She said she is trying to lose weight, I hope she has lots of support and help.

I agree it must be difficult for people (young) who are overweight especially.
Being cruel to overweight people is the last thing people are allowed to do. No one seems to care.

I really like Whitney. She is bright and confident and sweet. I enjoy watching her family. Her mother makes me laugh, and her father is a sweetheart. But I have to say Whitney is living in denial if she thinks all of her weight problems are from ovarian cysts. I have the same problem and although my hair is very thin (from lack of estrogen), I did not gain a lot of weight. I think Whitney needs help to lose the weight. She mentioned Duke University which is famous for its weight loss programs. I know her whole show is based around her weight, but she is shortening her life by not losing. That would be a shame.

I watched the premier shows last night... have to say I caught my self laughing with her in parts of the show... and crying as well.. She is contagious in making people feel good. I really think the dynamic with her friends and parents add so much to the show. It is one of my favorites to just make me feel good when I watch it.

Maybe she is not in denial. Maybe her medical problem has caused her to gain weight and just maybe her doctor has confirmed this.
It's the same old, same old thing. It doesn't matter if and why someone is over weight, it's always their fault if they are and if they wanted to, they could lose the weight.
Not everyone is like you. Just because you didn't gain weight doesn't mean she didn't because of her condition.
i could say more, but I better stop myself.

I had never heard of her but did see the promo for her show. I admire her because she lives her life, she doesn't seem to let her weight hold her back. She also seems comfortable in her own skin. I am a WW lifetime member at goal and I let my weight run my life for too long. I say good for her!

Everyone's body is different, very different. It reacts differently to medicine, environment, how much we eat, how we exercise, you name it.
We should never judge another person because we don't live in their skin. Period. Simple.
If her health isn't good and a Dr tells her she should lose weight, then it's her decision.
I don't watch the show but from the previews I thought she was saying, "Love yourself, no matter what. It isn't healthy to be obease (I hate that word, me Annabelle), so, try to do what you can to lose weight".
Here's something that will blow everyone's mind. Once at Weight Watchers (which is excellent) a leader said to us, "Never say, "I only lost 5 lbs. Pick up a 5 lb bag of potatoes and carry it around for even an hour".
This is excellent advice. It makes things real. So, look on the bright side, love yourself and if you need to loose weight (for whatever reason) try your best. If you lose any weight, your helping yourself, if not, so what, you still love yourself.

It's been correctly said that fat shaming is the last acceptable prejudice.
And what's saddest to me is that the behavior almost-always starts during childhood.
Most children are not empowered when it comes to what's kept in their home, and who to model themselves after.
This is one of the major reasons why we have an obesity epidemic, and doctors now say that the age range starts in kindergarten.
