Moderators... This is not intended to be political or controversal or any other thing that you may move this. I hope you will leave it up.
Posters... please do not make this a political thread or the like to get it taken down.
I watched this for the first time on TV last night. I do not go to movies in the theater so I am pretty late on seeing them at all...
I thought is was well done and the acting by Bradly Cooper was excellent portraying Chris Kyle in this biopic of Chris Kyle, the most celebrated sniper in American military history. His life... how he came to joining the military at a later stage in his life...
Clint Eastwood did a fabulous job directing this film! The War scenes were very real... Almost as if I were right there.... Such a sad ending to Kyle's life.... and difficult to watch at times.
I did not sleep well last night from all the action and violence. But it did give me a perceptive of war that I did not see living in my protected cocoon of a luxury life... it gave me perspective of how War and violence of war, and how it can mess up a person for the rest of their lives. Not only the soldiers, but those innocent civilians living in these war torn countries.
If you have not seen this film I think it is one that needs to be seen. It is powerful, moving and tragic. Just do not watch if right before bed. It really gave me a reality check on war and what war is... I think many of us who live our lives safe and comfortable need a wake up call sometimes to open our eyes to the reality of what WAR really means and what it really is. I think we forget. This movie did that for me.. and I needed that.
Thankyou for listening.

@SeaMaiden I saw that movie and it still haunts me. I agree that you won't sleep well after seeing that movie but everyone should see it to envision a little of the nightmares these brave young men and women endure.

I felt this way when I watch "Vietnam" on PBS. I felt I needed to see what went on even though I was a high school and college kid at the time. I was not aware of the tragedy. It was hard to watch and very heavy at times. But we need to see these things. As you say, I am living in the middle of the country surrounded by abundance and freedom. Thanks for posting.

I went to see this when it first came out.......went by myself. Thank goodness it was in the daytime. I drove home in silence, trying to absorb what I had just seen. I saw a big black car coming up behind me and for a moment, it really scared me. Sounds silly, I know, but we don't realize how lucky we are.
It is one great movie!!

Yes, it was a hard yet wonderful movie to watch. A lot of us are clueless what others have done for our safety. This movie highlights just a small part of that.

@Deblife I feel the same way about Vietnam when I was in school too. I had girl friends who's brothers were fighting over there and I just did not understand the importance of what was going on... I remember watching TV every night and seeing the film footage, but, being protected and living where I did in an upscale community.. it all seemed so far far away and I never understood the impact on so many lives. I just never understood it all for some reason.

I appreciate guns, been around them all my life, shot many guns, do target practice regularly. I was so incredibly impressed with the skill of Chris Kyle. Not everyone can do it, even with the best training, the best weapon, the best circumstances.
But for a "war" movie that took my breath away, Lone Survivor did it for me.
Still gives me cold chills just to think about it.
Thank God for all those brave men putting it on the line for us every day.

Yes, Lone Survivor is really good also. So is the book. He sometimes is on tv giving opinions.

It's an excellent movie. The war scenes were very harsh, for sure. But the live footage ending is what made me cry.
