Does anybody know why this series is called Matlock?  Is Kathy Bates' character supposed to be related to Andy Griffith's character of Ben Matlock?  

Yes, I know I can google it.  Just wondering if anybody here knows the details.

@Citrine1  I don't get the impression that Kathy Bates' character has any previous connection to that of Andy Griffith.  I think this series is cashing in on the familiarity of the "Matlock" name.

I read that she introduces herself in episode 1 as Madeline Matlock, you know like the old TV series.

I read on Google that is just her last name. No relation to the other Matlock.

I liked this show and am also a big Kathy Bates fan. I too, loved the show Harrys Law

@Shelbelle They showed the preview last night, but the show will actually be on Thurs nights.

I wish it was not on Thurs, way too many already to see on Thurs, I like my shows spread out over the week, I watch in real time. Kathy is 76, still got it going on !!
