Re: Married at First Sight - Houston

Watching tonight's  episode and I am enjoying this season. As far as my assessment of the couples goes:

Gil amd Mryla: she is high maintenance for sure !  Bougie. not happy with the Honeymoon Hotel. For heaven's sake it's a free trip !  Ms Prissey ! High Class.  Gil has already figured her out. he's a patient guy, he's all in and a good catch.  Not sure about this match

Rachel and Jose: Great together ! He is very affectionate and caring and they seem like a strong connection, good match.

Zach and Michalea: I think they are a good match, she likes that man ! He seems like a good guy, to bad he is covid positive. I hope they make it and wishing him a full recovery.

Ryan and Brett: they appear to really like each other, she is taking it slower than he would like it. He's ready for kids !  They seem interested in each other.

Johhny and Bao: Johnny is so cute and after 100 first dates he finally got it done. He did a great job with the picnic on the beach and glad to know she likes him as much as he likes her. They appear to be a good match

Re: Married at First Sight - Houston

Myrla reminds me of that Saturday Night Live character - "Debbie Downer"

I think she has sealed her fate as a spinster after she gets this divorce.  No man in his right mind would marry her once he views the footage of how she has no interest or vitality for enjoying life with others.

Re: Married at First Sight - Houston

@Houstonoilers I could not believe that Myrla did not even attempt to participate in the pool group activity, leaving Gil to go by himself. I think she probably used work as an excuse to mask the fact that she really does not like being around people. She has exhibited that trait (lack of interest in others) in almost every group situation. Oh, I forgot, she does not like anything! Myrla could totally zap all joy out of life. Gil is such a nice guy, and I hope he doesn't waste a lot of time on a lost cause.

Re: Married at First Sight - Houston

[ Edited ]

Last nights show gave a little glimpse of these couples, but now that I know so much is scripted, I find myself looking for that......you know, the stilted conversation...

I feel so sorry for Gil - what a nice guy!  Myrla at least admitted she is a whiner.  Why were these two ever matched?  He is down to earth, loves his dog, is affectionate, ready for love.....I really don't know what Myrla is looking for.  That plane ride was a total disaster.  She complained through the whole thing and Gil was just pleased that she made the effort.  His conversation at the pool was hilarious and spot on.  Having the volley ball stand in for Myrla (with the face painted on it) shows what a great sense of humor he has.

I think that Jose and Rachael will have reality problems when they get back to Houston.  She is good at assessing his actions and letting him know how she feels about things.  That will go a long way to keeping harmony.  The whole money thing must be a generation thing.  I personally don't see anything wrong with the man being the head of the family as long as they aren't lording over the woman.  I don't see anything wrong with the man supporting the woman, but again, a generational thing.  $$$$ may be their undoing and that fact that he wants to feed her LOL.

Ryan and Brett - not sure about this couple.  I don't think they will make it.  I think they want different things, like different things and am not sure how much either is willing to change.

Zach and Michala - what a selfish acting woman.  I wanted, I never wanted, not what I expected - all about how this effected her.......no compassion about Zach.  I would have asked for another room next door to be close.  She could take things to him, check on him, build a close emotional bond.....a great opportunity. She showed her true colors of how she reacts in bad times.

Johnny and Bao - moving slow, but forward.  The previews show him complaing about her not bathing every day.  I remember in his interview with the great Pastor Cal, that he showers many times a day.  He admitted he had a thing about being clean.  This could be a problem.......it would be for me.

That is my take for this week.  I will be interested in other viewpoints LOL.

Re: Married at First Sight - Houston

@tends2dogs , I'm blaming being 74 on dozing so much between the early hours of 7pm to 9pm.  Ai night I sleep, wake up awhile, sleep some more.  Terrible.

At any rate, I wake up having missed pieces of dialogue and therefore some things not making since.  I heard Myra saying she felt like vomiting, then I came too when he was saying her eyelashes were heavy.  I laughed out loud cause I had been wondering why she wears such thick ones.  Can't see her eyes.  And knowing she gets motion sick, why wouldn't she, like I do, carry motion sickness pills with her.  They could have enjoyed there ride.  My problem would have been getting in a helicopter to begin with...no pill will fix that, lol.

But most of what you said about these couples is spot on.  I had Michaela's number since the bachelorette party.  It's all about her having a good time.  Zach might have issues but I haven't seen them yet.  He's too soft for her, she needs a rough dude like her.....forget all this opposites attract stuff.

Ryan and Brett are my least favorite couple followed by Jose and Rachael.  I heard something and not bathing by Johnny but there again, I must have been dozing.  Hard to believe that Bao doesn't bathe daily.  Bowel movements alone would necessitate that, IMO.  What did she respond, if anything?

I missed Unfiltered altogether.  Why don't they have it on before MAFS like they used too?  It comes on at 11 pm here.

Re: Married at First Sight - Houston

@Mmsfoxxie I totally get the dozing off thing.  MAFS comes on here from 8 to 10.  Then we walk our dog and I miss half of Couples Cam.  After that comes Unfiltered at 11.

The thing about not bathing was in the previews for next week.  Bao was on Unfiltered this week and when they showed that preview clip she seemed very embarrassed...I know I would be, but then again, I bathe at least once a day LOL.  Rachael and Brett were also on last night.  I agree that there is something about Brett, a little rough, I can't put my finger on it, but maybe she is just being guarded.

I honestly hope that the whole Myrla thing is scripted.  No one could be that self centered.  She doesn't seem to mind whining on national TV.  When Gil said that he is content with his life, I figured that was the death toll right there.  She wants stuff, he wants happiness.  Stuff brings her happiness, not people.

The ride that Gil and Myrla took was a plane ride.  The kind that takes off and lands on water.  She was whining the whole time to the pilot........is this going to be rough, I don't like those turning things, I feel sick, I have to lay down when we get back........

Poor Gil and poor Zach.

Re: Married at First Sight - Houston

@tends2dogs, I really have to wonder about Myrla.  Maybe they are paying her extra to be the one who we don't like?  I think maybe the poster "beach mom" (can't remember her nic) might know.  Gil is IMO a very good looking man and has a sweet disposition and deserves so much better.  He will never make her happy, let alone content.

First she doesn't like the resort, won't participate in other things with the other couples and now the ring isn't good enough for her.  I suspect she may never find "her person".

As for the airplane ride he set up (I'd go in a heartbeat), she made a big deal about it.  I, too, get motion sickness; however, the place is only on the water for a short period of time until takeoff.  She didn't complain about the flight to get there.  So I just don't buy it.

As for Michaela (sp?), I'm not impressed.  I feel for Zach and he couldn't help getting ill.  She could've stayed in another room at the resort and checked in with him every so often.  She seems to only worry about her feelings IMO.

Re: Married at First Sight - Houston

@HisElk1   How could I have forgotten about the ring comment!!!  When she was twirling it around her finger and said something like "this isn't going to work" I could not believe it.  Gil said something like "I wanted to wait to see if this works out"  or something to that effect.  What a piece of work!  Glad he saved his money.  No ring would have made her happy and THIS ISN'T going to work.  When he surprised her with macaroon cookies and she said "is it a Cartier bracelet?" I just shook my head.

Yes, Myrla is this seasons Chris.

Re: Married at First Sight - Houston

Why in bloodyhell did Myrla sign up for this?   I feel badly for him.  He seems like a really nice guy.  Why pair up a nice guy with somebody for whom nothing is good enough?   /rhetorical

Still loving Johnny and Bao.   I sure hope they will be happy.

I know so much of it is fake but I keep hoping for more grood matches that work out well.  I know what miserable is like and I just don't want to see more people miserable.

I feel so bad for the groom who ended up with CV19.  Smiley Sad    I agree that she could have stayed and provided him with some sort of support system.  I hope they require vaccinations for these folks.    I worry about the others, as they have spent time together.

Many of the names I'm still forgetting.  The short guy - They both seem pretty nice althrough he kind of gives me the willys a little bit.  Plus, I don't find short guys attractive but he seems nice and has a nice smile.   Maybe she will be good for him.
