That is why I always check to see who was the guest on The Jack Benny Show. Jimmy and Gloria Stewart was guests on the show several times. And their skits were priceless.
Also, I check to see if Jimmy Stewart was a guest on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
I also read the book Hank and Jimmy. It made me admire the man even more. When Henry Fonda was not doing well healthwise, Jimmy Stewart would go to his house (I believe everyday) and take him vegetables from his garden. And spend time with Henry Fonda.
Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda had been friends since when they first started out as actors.
Sorry I missed the movie just saw Oznell mentioning it.

I have always loved Jimmy Stewart. Every movie he acted in was spectacular. He always struck me as a very kind man. A gentleman with ethics. It was so nice reading some of these posts of people who actually knew him or met him and everything I believed about him is true. What a class act.

Jimmy and Gloria Stewart took over the roles played on radio by Ronald Colman and his wife, Benita Hume. They were the celebrity neighbors that were always trying to avoid Jack's visits.
I love the old radio programs, and so many of the television plots were taken directly from the radio show.
Jimmy Stewart was, from all accounts I have heard/read over the years, hopelessly in love with Margaret Sullavan, who also started out with Stewart and Fonda, and who was married to Fonda for a brief period. Stewart also bought the house across the street from Sullavan and her third husband, Leland Hayward. Stewart was about 40 years when he married for the first, and only, time.
As noted previously here, Jimmy Stewart was not only a great patriot, but also a wonderful performer. I love his movies, from the early ones with Sullavan, to the silly ones like Vivacious Lady, all the way up through the John Ford and Anthony Mann westerns.
