LOVED it! The whole set up to get Olympia's passcode and the whole thing. Alfie is a smart, nice little kid.

I can't say enough good stuff about this series. All the twists were smart and clever.

And Matty deliberately "forgetting" her 2 dinner orders was priceless.

I have a completely different view. I think the series is not that engaging. I am an avid fan of the old series Matlock and thought this would be a reboot not a complete remake. Kathy Bates is a great actress but the storyline doesn't make sense.

I think they should have a different name for this series. That's what makes the world go round different views and opinions.

@elated I rarely watched the original series. I read all of the promos of this one which stated it was *not* a reboot which I'm glad about. Matlock is currently in reruns so you may enjoy the old stuff. Wasn't really my cup of tea.

I just finished episode 2 and I enjoyed it.  I like tv shows that make me think and are not predictable.  That Alfie is a smart one.  Yup I like this show.

CBS chief marketing officer Mike Benson has spent the last 18 months obsessing over Matlock — or, to be more precise, how to sell 2024 audiences on the Eye’s new reboot of the Andy Griffith-led legal mystery. Normally, hyping the reincarnation of a classic TV title is pretty straightforward: “Remember that show you loved a long time ago? It’s back, only cooler, with new stars — and now in 4K!” But as soon as Benson screened the pilot for the new Matlock back in the spring of 2023, he knew his task was going to be a lot more complicated. That’s because this remake was not actually a remake at all.

It is as you can see a reboot. As far as the "old stuff" many enjoy the original Matlock.

It is not a remake. It is a whole new show. I like it, but I am afraid her acting like she does not know what she is doing is going to get old real soon. I hope i am incorrect as Kathy Bates is an excellent actress.

Loved the show also.  Thought it was great.  I'm glad it's not a remake of the old Matlock.  That show was so-so and this one is so much better.

@JudyL Agree. I never thought the original Matlock was all that great. LOVE Kathy Bates.

Watched for the first time and I enjoyed it.  Something different for me to watch for a change.  I never watched the old show but  now and then.  I will continue to watch.

Great episode 2. No spoiler, but knocking on the apt. door we both were a little apprehensive. Kathy Bates is the best.
