Re: MAFS - season in Chicago

Hi ladies, I just started watching.  I skipped the first couple of episodes and  I'm starting with last week's.  Do I need to go back and watch the first two?  As I recall I usually FF'd through a lot of that in previous seasons.

Did anyone watch last night's episode (10/22)?  We saw the other weddings, minus the last one (just the beginning that we'll see next week).

I was quite taken at the comment Karla said to Juan about something like 'do you love me'.  I get the impression she likes herself alot, but maybe that's me.

If anyone has any thoughts/comments, I'd love to read them.

Her comment caught me off guard and I think it caught him off guard for a second.  I think that's probably just her personality.  I like that she seems to be very positive but I just hope that she is just not too "woo-woo" for him.  It's good that they both have a lot of energy and have a love for dance!

I would watch the first 2 weeks because as far as I can tell they didn't do the experts picking thing and all that.  You can always fas forward if you don't want to see all of the shows.

Re: MAFS - season in Chicago

@Wsmom The first two episodes consisted of the round table with Kevin Fraser predicting the outcome of the couples.

The other is the choosing episode, doing the home checks, breaking the big news to the couples, and I believe, the meet up of the girls and the guys.

If you have the capability of FFing, I would watch them.

I missed those somehow?  Beats me.  DH tapes the shows for me.  Oh, well.  Not a great loss probably.

@AngelPuppy1 Do you have On Demand?  It is a feature of Spectrum.  If so, they are still available, however, there is no fast forwarding available.  Also, the After Party isn't available for viewing.

I found that offered a lot of back story.....oh, well.

I am not holding out much hope for any of the couples at this point.

I have Comcast and we do have on demand but that's o.k. I think I will just move forward.  They tend to repead so much stuff anyway.  Thank you though!

Re: MAFS - season in Chicago

[ Edited ]

Two days later and I'm the first one to comment on this Tuesday's show, on the 29th?

Hmm... hope it's just because it's only the weddings and we finished off with Michelle and David getting hitched up. If this were a football game, I would be seeing red flags all over the field with this marriage. They barely introduce themselves and he reveals his nasty smoking habit. Michelle was less than thrilled. He adds to it by announcing he lives with his parents, in their basement as well. Wow, this guy is just a ball of surprises.

Speaking of red flags we have Juan and Karla with a "K''. He's an organized type that plans things out. She on the other hand flys by the seat of her pantie's. oh boy! I think he is more of an introvert just observing his mannerisms, which I was surprised at given his cool, calm good looks. She is an extrovert and seems to blurt out whatever comes into her brain at the moment. I don't dislike either one I just don't think once you get past the "good looks" that they are a good fit. Looks and dancing can only take you so far.

Back to the first couple, Camille and Thomas, the pair that were married first. He seems nervous (could be the cameras) the way he chomped on his food and kept doing that dance in his mouth swirling his tongue around. I'd guess he has TMJ problems the way he clenches. Sorry, my background, just saying. She seems a little rigid too. I don't know about his past experience being with someone for 8 years or so, and finally supposedly cheating on them. It doesn't all add up. He's the banker and I can't remember what she does. Need to watch more. edited to add: *He was chomping on chia seeds per a little birdie that told me so later. *

Emem and Ikechi looked good on paper, but that's where it ended. The rumors are flying that besides the Texas tryout, he also tried out for MAFS in NC. Yes the 9th season, the 12th season, and now the 18th season, & finally got on.This is a 1st, a MAFS stalker, that moves with the show and season. He still owns a house in the city of Houston, that he previously lived in while in Texas.

I like Emem, I don't care if she's over the top and trying really hard. That's what MAFS is about, being a little outside your comfort zone. Her personality is pleasant, outgoing and fun. He's kindof a "stick in the mud". Too bad for her, she needs a fun guy.

Finally, Madison and Allen. People are already comparing Allen's looks to Brennan from previous season. I don't agree. Personalities are also completely different. He seems like a good guy, might have a temper problem that comes out soon.

She is very "happy with her own transformation". The way she immediately made fun of his white nighty shirt, and the brocolli underroos, told me that she could be a stickler for how things look and Isn't afraid to say so.  She's very bubbly and "out there", and this is one couple I just don't know how it will go. Need to watch a lot more.

Re: MAFS - season in Chicago

All those wonderful promises in their vows seem to last a nano-minute with most, if not all, of the contestants on every season.  I think the so called 'experts' did try to match the couples a little better this time than in previous seasons, but people's personalities, habits, emotions, flaws, etc don't take much time to surface.  So, we will see how this season goes.

Re: MAFS - season in Chicago

This season doesn't seem to have attracted many viewers or maybe just those that want to post about it.  I get it.  This is what I wrote on the other MAF board:

From the beginning, I didn't (and still don't) hold much hope for any of the couples.  Michelle and David won't make it long.  She gets turned off by guys wearing flip flops.  When she heard he lived with his parents and that he smokes, that was the path down to  "no" on decision day.  She was basically having an anxiety attack at the reception.  Her friends did the best giving her advice, but she wasn't even listening. Wait until she sees the tattoo of his past girlfriend's name on his chest. Woman Surprised

Juan and Karla are a "no" match.  She is too "out there" and he comes across weak, whiny, cries too easy.  He needs to only sing off camera.

My biggest fear is that Allen will get hurt.  He, along with Camille seem like the nicest two on the show.  While they wouldn't be a good match, they are the most vulnerable and could end up hurt.  JMO so far.  I hope Madison is sincere, but she is really full of herself.  If I was one of Allen's groomsmen who heard her say she knows she is good looking and a real catch, that would be a hard thing to erase from my mind.

Emem gives me vibes of that one bride from the past that had a ballistic temper  Remember the one who upturned tables upside down at the couples retreat?  I could see her being similar.  Her smile gets on my nerves.  Again, JMO  When her friends asked her, "Why aren't you married already?" she responded, "I  know, have you seen me?"

Has anyone been watching the Afterparty?  Has it been coming on after each episode?  I can't watch it while it is on and it isn't available on On Demand.

I would love to hear what has been said if it is on.  Sometimes it is better than the actual show.
