I loved this movie and I was also married in that year. Fifty years coming up for me too.

From the movie What's Up, Doc?
Judy (Barbra Streisand): Love means never having to say you're sorry.
Howard (Ryan O'Neal): That's the dumbest thing I ever heard.

@beach-mom And just 2 years after Love Story. That was no accident. 😂

Is it a corny movie?
Sure, but I can spend an afternoon watching it.
The theme always manages to bring a tear to my eye.

I remember playing the theme song in one of my Organ Recitals in the early 70's.....It was so pretty, I thought. I remember going to the movies with my brother and sister in law to see the movie, and my sister in law was crying uncontrollably leaving the theatre! .

I thought the Ali McGraw character was a brat.
Always loved Ryan O'Neal, so cute! But kind of a louse of a person.

Ali McGraw was no actress.

I saw it back when I was a teenager and loved it. It was on one of my streaming stations a month or two ago...maybe Prime? And I watched it again. The story was pretty tv worthy...not movie material..though Ryan was awfully cute back then! And I loved seeing Ali's clothes....brought back fun memories. I remember wearing a little crocheted cap over my waist-length hair!
It was fun seeing it again.

I read the book and saw the movie.
I agree with the negative reviews expressed here by other posters. The movie itself was boring and the acting was so bad - especially Ali McGraw.
I cried during E.T., Beaches, Brian's Song, Ghost, Philadelphia.
Never shed a single tear watching Love Story.

Only saw this movie once and didn't care for it. But wow, 50 yrs. old.
Didn't realize it came out so long ago.
