[ Edited ]

I saw that recently.  Didn't realize it was 50 years old.  I read the book, I don't know that I saw the movie at the time.

I don't know what the big deal was.  I wasn't impressed.

Of course when I read the book I was younger and I'm sure I took the "never having to say you're sorry" thing to heart.  I don't believe that now.

They are showing the move at "selected theaters" this month.  So, if you live in a big city, you might be in luck.

I loved the movie when I first saw it when I was very young.  Then I saw it again a couple of years ago and couldn't believe how terrible the acting was!  It was almost painful to watch.

One of the worst acted and written movies ever.

Re: Love Story: 50 year anniversary

I always thought O'Neal was a decent actor from his days on the soap Peyton Place.  But Ali, even in the ads "Love means never having to say you're sorry" is painful to watch.  She certainly was no actress.

IMO there are movies that should not be "revived" and this is one of them.  Read the book and I'm sure I saw the movie originally, but no desire now.

Boy did I cry when I saw that movie. I feel in love with Ryan O'Neal

I thought the movie was awful and that tag line was the biggest bushel of corn I ever heard.

Ali McGraw was no actress.

Even worse was the sequel "Oliver's Story".

I still have the sheet music to the theme from "Love Story".  Somewhere buried with the rest of long-forgotten piano pieces.

I should drag it out and play it for a good laugh.Woman LOL

Re: Love Story: 50 year anniversary

At 12 my friend and I begged my parents to take us to see it.  Now in the day it was a racy movie for that age!  My mother called my friends mom right after to appologize for taking us to see it!  We thought Ali M was just the coolest ever!  Oh to be that young and innocent!  Fast forward all these years - 50 really?!  well, it's a pretty bad movie! But the music was good!
