If this has been a topic before, I apologize for repeating. I have a movie membership, and my queue is getting low. I would like some great movie recommendations. I'm looking for really funny comedies--ones that make you laugh until you cry. I also love mysteries or thrillers with a twist at the end.
I know that there's probably not a lot of those kinds of movies out there, and I'm sure that I (and others) will get recommendations of movies I've (we've) already seen. That's ok. Maybe there's someone who hasn't seen such movies for whatever reason.
Of course, if you have a recommendation from another genre that you absolutely love, and you think others would love it as well, please recommend it! Just looking for some great movies to watch on weekends.
To start, I'll recommend a few movies:
What's Up Doc? (1972)--I laugh every time I see this movie.
The Producers (1968)--What a ridiculous, but funny movie.
The Man Who Came to Dinner (1941)--Brilliant comedy.
The Court Jester (1956)--Starts slow, but the ending is so funny.
The Illusionist (2006)--This movie has a surprise ending.
Stonehearst Asylum(2014)--You won't see the ending coming.
I'll also recommend other movies that are not comedies or mysteries, but they are still excellent movies to watch.
The Color Purple (1985)--I cry every time I watch this movie's ending.
The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982)--excellent time-period romance
Frequency (2000)--a time-travel film, but it really makes you think (really like time-travel movies)
Thanks in advance for all your recommendations!!

The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming with a great performance by Alan Arkin.
As someone else mentioned, Airplane! dated but truly hilarious.
The original Scarlet Pimpernel with Leslie Howard and Merle Oberon, I've never seen the 1982 remake.
The Thrill of It All with Doris Day and James Garner. Again, dated but amusing.

1408, John Cusack stars in it, it's a horror thriller based on a Stephen King story. Not gory. I think it's creepy.

Clockwise is an absurdist 1986 British comedy road film starring John Cleese, directed by Christopher Morahan, written by Michael Frayn and produced by Michael Codron.
I loved it. To me, it's good for a lot of laughs and a line about something like: "It's the hope that is killing me. I can stand the despair. It's the hope. . . "
