No confusion here. When people pick and choose who should have a platform.

Respect your right to disagree with me. Hope you can do the same with me.

I respect your opinion. I will add that we are not choosing who has a platform; it's a responsibility we share as a society supported by law to oppose speech that is erroneous and will cause greater harm than allowing it for the sake of free speech.

Free speech is not a license to cause harm to society by spreading lies.

Where did I support harm? No where. You might not be choosing. However! News media as shown time and again, promotes their propaganda.

How are we going to help these people who need to take their meds, get bullied, seem to be loners, etc., etc., etc.,  It's beginning to feel hopeless on getting the people help that need it.  I have no answers.

Regardless if he's off his medication and has mental issues, it is not an excuse to give him a pass. He said it on national television and therefore he's spreading insidious lies. Our obligation is to point it out and oppose it forcefully in every way possible to minimize the damage.

Once something is online and on TV it has a life of its own. He shouldn't have a platform if he's unstable. He's famous and his comments and behavior will reverberate to countless people and many will believe what he says is true.  This will reinforce dangerous beliefs and stereotypes that are already too prevalent in society.

This is not just about African-Americans and the formerly enslaved he's maligned; lies and marginalization spread like wildfire to engulf all corners of society if given enough oxygen. One second it's falsehoods about slavery being propagated and the next all truth no longer exists. You can't allow continued oppression of one group and think you're immune.

The community suffers when people are not given the opportunity to maximize their potential. This rhetoric goes to the heart of what discrimination is when it fully supports the purported inferiority of said group by blaming them for their own victimization.

The people that endorse and support Kanye's platform are the same that lambast Colin Kapernick.

I don't know much about him but come on everyone knows what he's talking about with group think if you're black... you're expected to act, support & vote a certain way & if you don't you're called black outside - white inside...I can't think of a more hurtful insult, it's reprehensible & must stop. All group think is wrong...period.

There's a difference between "group think" and historical fact. The only way you change history is to make sure it doesn't happen again. Where in history is slavery a choice by the slaves themselves?

He made total sense to me  Many times those that don't understand have to label others as sick.  So sad.

Showing compassion for a mentally ill person, isn't giving them a pass. Anyone of us, could be stricken with this condition ,at any time

I am not a Kayne fan, but that doesn't stop me from being  a person ,who is able to feel some empathy for him. This is a teachable moment

I am reminded of the old saying, Lord keep my words sweet, for someday I may be forced to eat them

With bipolar disorder, you go back and forth between highs and lows of mania and depression. In between, you may return completely to normal or have some remaining symptoms. The extreme mood changes may come on suddenly or appear more slowly.

During a manic episode, you may go from feeling abnormally happy and productive to behaving irresponsibly and sleeping very little. After this manic high, your mood may return to normal. Or it may swing in the opposite direction. You may feel useless and extremely sad. And you may lose interest in things you've enjoyed in the past.

Men tend to have more manic highs, and women tend to have more lows of

psychosis

Psychosis is a mental and behavioral disorder in which a person has trouble telling the difference between what is real and what is not real. It may cause bizarre thoughts and behavior.

A person with psychosis may have:

  • Delusions, which are firmly held but false beliefs. Irrational suspicion of others (paranoia) is a common delusion. The person may think others are watching or trying to hurt or even kill him or her.
  • Hallucinations, which are false perceptions. Hallucinations can include seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, or tasting things that are not really there.
  • Personality changes.

Treatment for psychosis depends on the cause and may include care in a hospital. Medicines that diminish hallucinations and delusions and stabilize thinking and behavior are helpful. Group or individual therapy also may be helpful.

They spent quite a long time today on The Talk discussing Kanye. Most thought he is bi polar and not taking his meds.

I see a divorce coming. Kanye has some screws loose...mentally ill. I just do not think Kim is going to take a chance with her and her family's  safety after the incident she had in a Paris.  Kanye is a loose cannon and not something she needs. Her net worth is $178  million so she does not need Kanye and the instability he brings to the table.
