I happened upon a recipe online today that was Regis's favorite pasta recipe. Then that took me to Joy making it on the Today show, then I was reading about Joy and then Kathie Lee. You know how one thing takes you down that rabbit hole and you're all over the place. I was reading about some of what she's been through. And here we are again-- must have been a terrible struggle and a lot of pain. Can't even imagine.

@Teddie I have an old paperback recipe book from their show.  Some very good recipes in there!  And Mary Beth's 2 books, and Laura Weathers. . . and even one old one from Bowersox!

@Sooner  So you like cookbooks and collect recipes too, huh? 🙂

I ordered a booklet of recipes from the Home Show long ago. Remember that show with Gary Collins? Lots of really good recipes. I also ordered 2 of Bob Bowersox cookbooks. I also have one from Naomi Judd. I love to cook and try new recipes.

@NYwoman ,  I'm so sorry you had to go through all that with your replacement. Thanks for sharing your experience, and the details of recovery-- I didn't realize how complex it really is.

And for Kathie Lee, the complication of a nearby fracture right after a hip replacement must be so daunting.  Saying a prayer for uneventful recovery.

My experience with the THA was no different than anyone else's (except I had to do it alone).   The healing is the same for everyone, including the precautions.   The actual reason for it was unique and brutal.  I was born with LCPD (Perthes Disease), a deformity and weakness in the hip joint.   It causes the head of the hip bone to disintegrate with age.  At 50, 2" of bone destucted.   The hard part was fighting to get the THA with one painful leg 2" shorter than the other.   I had the best surgeon, who is now Surgeon-in-Chief and Medical Director at HSS, NYC.

I didn't hear about this and I sure am sorry to read this!  I like her a lot and she always has made me laugh over the years.  She seems to have a real zest for life and has had her share of unhappy times and events.  Healing and blessings are wished for her.

Had she listened to her Dr when she had hip replacement, perhaps this wouldn't have happened.  You have to be careful for several weeks and she said herself she thought she could resume her regular activities.  Hope she heals quickly.

Re: KATHIE LEE GIFFORD HOSPITALIZED

Both of my hips have been replaced (not at the same time) and it's the recovery that's hell. Among other things I had to sleep with a big sponge thing between my knees (to keep them in the correct position) and any time I woke up needing to use the bathroom, I had to wake my poor husband up to remove the wedge.

Hip replacement is no picnic.
